The reason is obvious. I hope you guys can explain why here. If not, I will waste a couple hours this weekend and write an article. But seeing if this is obvious to others first without potentially wasting my time.

Thanks

We don't have his bird rights and the team acquiring him wouldn't receive them either.

That was pretty easy to type out.

Thats part of it. But yes, its a little deeper. To sum up:

1. If you are a buyer, you trade with sellers. Sellers don't want to be good this year. So he has zero value to them this season.

2. If you are a seller, you want assets for future years. With no years left on the deal and no Bird Rights, he is not that either.

So, Randle does not have real trade value unless the Pels become a seller.

Okay, glad at least some people understand. So, can I count on you guys to shut down any trade ideas with Randle when people put them on this board? Thanks

so the idea of sending Randle to Washington, and getting back Oubre, while Washington sends out Mahinmi to Atlanta, and we get Bembry and Dedmon from Atlanta while sending them a 1st, that's not a possibility?

Makes Washington get under the tax this year, which will save them double digit millions, and set them up next year to be under it, and they can still compete this year.
Atlanta takes on salary for next year in Mahinmi and gets a first for it and sending out Bembry.
We get 2 young SF on cheap deals, one that we can resign next year, and a big to replace Randle.

Randle would be a trade asset if you are trading him to a luxury tax team that wants him off the books next year.

Speaking of Julius Randle. I let him walk all day over Mirotic. He’s relatively efficient due to free throw attempts, but his game is ugly and involves 5-6 missed layups a game, he mucks up spacing and he doesn’t play defense. Don’t get me wrong. The don’t dislike him, but he’s not worth more than 9 mil a year imo.

pretty sure there's only a handful of people that know this board exists. No one monitors this board, so a sticky would never happen.

But i can fill it at least twice a day with a trade proposal for quite some time to keep it near the top.

Yeah - they would give you the same return as they would for Wesley Johnson. Randle would ONLY be an expiring in that scenario. And if the oncoming team only sees him as an expiring, then they give you nothing of value for him. In that case, Pels would just send Wesley out. You get that, right?

Sometimes buyers trade with buyers. For example, Minny and the Butler deal. It’s not out of the question. Thanks, glad some understand it.

Correct. Looking back at just the last six years, there were three buyers-buyers trades. But they all happened in the beginning of the year. Here's the issue - Randle can't be traded until December 15th, so that can't happen.

The whole point of this is that in two other threads there were three trade ideas involving Randle. All of which had him going to a seller. Won't happen. As always, just trying to get out in front of more bad ideas before they fester. It's a thankless job
