David Fisher with a good point:

quote:

The Pelicans are a better basketball team today than it was yesterday. Bledsoe is near enough to Jrue. Hill solves the massive whole at reserve PG short term.

What if Griffin just isn't in a rush?

quote:

The team wants to win now, but not sacrifice the future. Just keeping Hill and Bledsoe makes that happen (for this season).

All these future picks means they have a war chest when it's time to trade for a star beside Zion later.

quote:

Your biggest concern is does Bledsoe want to be here. If he doesn't, I think you ship him before the season starts someplace else for the sake of the lock room.

Also, if NAW is a point guard I do worry that Hill may block his development/minutes.

reroute George Hill

Celtics get George Hill and Myles Turner

Pacers get Hayward, Ball, #14, #26, some combo of 2 Pels 1sts

Pels get Oladipo and TJ Leaf

Bledsoe
Oladipo
BI
Zion
Hayes

Well I’m pretty sure Jrue didn’t want to play for the Hawks.

This is my thinking, I respect jrue for not going public but I’m sure he gave them a very short list

it never hurts to have 15, 1st rounders

i'll echo what somebody else said in this thread and advise Euros to get prepared to be drafted by the Pellies

This is kinda how I've been leaning. I don't think that Bledsoe is going to be worse than Jrue for us, in some ways I think he's going to better. He's better at PG, and that's what we need. If a Bledsoe trade does happen, I wouldn't be surprised if it's next year. It fits the win now, but set up for the future idea that Griff seems to have been pushing since the AD trade and FA signings last season.

I’ll take him and a combination of 5 Pacer picks and swaps.

NAW needs a reset and some time with a real NBA point guard.
Neither holiday or lonzo are point guards, and you cannot go into a season with NAW as your primary

either you trust you have a PG whisperer on the staff, or you let him learn from Bledsoe. Either way Bledsoe nor hill is blocking NAWs development. He’s not ready to play

I seriously doubt that. He makes $21 and is in his final year of his contract. It's a minimal risk to acquire him, assuming you don't give up too much if supposedly his value isn't that high.
I know his injury history, but he's still an all-star caliber player when healthy.
Take a chance on him. What's the worst that could happen? You lose him in FA? Are you planning on resigning Lonzo Ball, or losing him to FA?

NAW is young and was put onto the court way too early. Our team was injured and he played before he was ready. It's unfortunate because he definitely has a case of the yips. He has shown some flashes of being capable but he just needs some time to develop.

I know people don't like to hear this, but I think they (Griff and SVG) really like Lonzo

Another reason to like this deal is that it moves Lonzo to off guard, so we can see him in that role for a year before we have to make a decision on him.

explain the grossness?
Is there a problem with having about 90 ppg average with 4 players in your starting lineup?
Bledsoe and Oladipo are both good guard defenders.

this is the million dollar question now, for me.

if they move Bledsoe or hill, obviously lonzo stays and starts.
but if you believe that griff and SVG want ingram (your max star) to play SG (and get off the D assignment on long burly wings) then lonzo is just in the way, and/or coming off the bench which will impact his contract

we will know soon

Pelicans trades for all these 1st round picks with both the Lakers and Bucks are basically tons of very late 1st round picks and nothing but complete gambles to even last in the league more than a handful of years.

That is why i like the deal as well, and why i do'nt want to send Bledsoe out. I think Bledsoe fits exactly what we need at the PG position, and we aren't giving up that much defensively. Now if Lonzo can pick up his D, we'll have a very nice backcourt.

I was simply looking for contenders that would want Hill's 3 point shooting to move him too. Boston, Brooklyn, Miami, Philly, i would think would all be interested in him.

I know. The potential is there for Lonzo, without a doubt.

It actually is. Jrue is our third best player on our team. Its a good deal.

It's a gamble, but look at OKC, people probably thought those Rockets picks were going to be trash, too. Now, it's looking like they may be very valuable. A ton will happen in the NBA over the next 7 years (assuming that the last Bucks pick is 2027).

Meh Zion will be gone in five years.
The odds say this is correct, but we'll just get another monster haul for him and continue to have a shite ton of assets for the foreseeable future.

Teams in the west are stacked and you have Zion and BI for now, but who knows how fast that will change. The nba doesn’t seem to be a 5-8 year plan type of league anymore lol
This same argument can be used to show why this is a really great haul getting three 1sts way out in the future.
