We are at 30 wins and we still have a chance to catch Charlotte (29), Washington (27), Dallas (27), & Memphis (26). Get below those 4 teams and we have the 6th worst record. Can't get below that. Lets ride
This is so much more important to me than building chemistry between a group of guys that won't be together in a few months, especially with the change in lottery format.

Being in the 8th spot gets you a 29% chance of being the top 4. The 11th spot gets you a 9 percent chance. Right now we're essentially tied for the 9-13 spot. Thats the difference between a 20+% chance at the top 4 and 5+% chance.

Hopefully most of the current roster will see a reduced role or a new team over the coming years.

This circles back to the silly question about the Pels maybe being a playoff team in the west next year with a Randle, Diallo, Okafor frontcourt rotation:

The Pels and their fans should not be married to much of anything we are watching right now.

They should be thinking about the next 5 years, not the next 5 months and trying to snag a 7 or 8 seed in 19/20. That mindset is more of the same we have seen here the last half decade or so.

They need to find legit building blocks through Davis trade, draft, etc that will give them a chance to build a sustainable winning team.

I suppose I could force myself to get onboard the tank, but God, I hate it. I’ve never been a tankster, and I’m afraid that it will be bad luck if I do it now.

Let's just throw out any results this year and take them with a grain of salt. They are meaningless, both in evaluating players and any semblance of momentum moving forward.

And once again, the question was posed as a means of having future flexibility because those 3 would cost you absolutely nothing compared to going out and finding other bigs to come play here.

Let's keep putting words in my mouth though and saying that suggesting giving those guys a combined 20-22 million/yr is me saying we're going balls to the wall for the playoffs in 19-20. I said they're potentially serviceable enough to focus on other areas of the team and still remain competitive, and suggested locking them in on very team friendly deals if they'd go for it.

Whether this team finishes with 33 or 37 wins will be instantly forgotten once the season finishes in the eyes of the mass fans. This season will be remembered as the AD leaving year regardless.

On an individual night right i won’t lie i want to see this play hard and compete but looking at the big picture it’s much more important to finish at below the rest of the pack of the teams with 28-30 wins right now.

Getting a long term building block out of our pick can be huge to add to the AD trade package for our future. We need to do whatever we can to increase our chances of doing that. Any positivity gained this season is severely overrated compared to that.

Honestly, I've seen all I've needed to see when it comes to winning this season. They have their statement stretch with the 3 road wins in a row @PHX @DEN @UTA. PHX is playing really well right now too. They really need to slide back in the pack a little now. Keep giving big minutes to the guys who need it. Let's find a way to get the proven vets (who aren't playing for new deals) some more time off like they've been doing lately.

I have a feeling Randle is about to put up a few monster games coming up when it comes to just raw stats in the box score.

I don't see the value in tanking

Outside of Barrett/Zion/Morant is there really a difference between 4 and later? Not that much imo

It doesn't matter WHERE they pick it's WHO they pick

If the pels get a Tatum package they are probably in the playoff discussion next year and will likely have Memphis pick to boot

Hell I don't doubt they'll be better than this year if they got Zion and the Knicks guys

There are many recent teams who never bottomed out but progressively added to their team and their vision

It's up to the pels to get that brain trust

outside of the top 3, I like Hunter, Garland, and Culver. The rest are kind of meh for me. I'd also take a chance on the kid from France or Bol Bol. I'll add Reddish even though I'm down on him & Rui.

so ill tank to get to the 6-9 range. after that I can't make heads or tails of these prospects

With the new lotto odds, there’s a massive benefit to tanking. 20+% at a top 3 pick is a big deal. It’s why the new odds are kind of counter productive. Sure the bottom dwellers don’t tank as much but the mid lottery teams will tank way more.

We are currently in 9th and 1.5 games away from 8th. We are only a half game back from 11th and 1 game back from 13th.

Top 4 Odds:
8th - 29% (-1.5)
9th - 20% (E)
11th - 9.4% (+0.5)
13th - 5.7% (+1)

Tanking is valuable. We don't want to drop below 9th worst and ideally we want to get to 8th.

After the tournament when more people get to see the guys outside the top 3 prospects actually play, we will be talking about how we need to be in the top 8 or so.

The weaker the class I'd argue the more value there is in tanking because you want to trade out. If I want to turn Moore/Solo into a young vet like say Aaron Gordon, I'd rather have 8 and 14 than 12 and 14.
