Did we get him because he wears a head band too?

Jesus. There aren't too many guys that have played in the nba in the last 15 years that I'd rather not have than Josh Smith.

Easily one of my most disliked player ever.

Don't understand the uproar. He will be gone once Rondo and Ajinca come back due to the medical hardship exception. This signing is nothing other than a body that has played in the NBA. I'm surprised Josh Smith even agreed to this

Pels needed a backup big even if Davis is healthy. Smith wasn't my first choice, but it could be worse. Smith is the type of PF that needs a PG. Well, this isnt that team. I already know ima shake my head at him trying to do any type of isolation offense....

I understand it's a body at a position of need. I've been saying we needed that for the last 2 months, and that being said, I'd rather anyone else or nothing at all than Josh smith.

I might as well start tv shopping now b/c I'm going to throw something at my tv when he takes his first 20 footer.

Like who?

We are screwed in the short term without Davis regardless. Smith can at least do a few things decent. He has a relationship w rondo and cousins, too. Maybe a combo of that and being out of the league for a year reels him in a bit
Like pretty much anyone. Smith has been washed up for years and is a terrible player. He can't shoot, chucks 3s way too much despite the fact that he cannot hit them, cannot shoot FTs. Don't act like he was anywhere close to the best option available. This is probably simply Dell catering to Boogie to bring a friend along for the ride.

Josh smith and the pels are a joke. Whoever makes these decisions is a joke. And the oblivious fans that aren’t outraged are the biggest jokes.

this is a stupid, dramatic exaggeration. And frick you for calling out the fans who arent necessarily "pissed" off at this. Obviously this isnt the best decision, but we just signed a backup forward who wont even play much.... I cant say enough times, gfy. take your bandwagon arse back to Golden State.

Edit: I'm not even thrilled with this myself, but this is the LEAST of our worries...

The team should have kept the cheap players like Lance, Crawford, and Terrance Jones instead of some of the d-leaguers at the end of the bench.

I still can't believe Smith and Brewer shot the lights out ofbthe building in that game 7 against the Clips. He has been working out this summer with Harden and CP3.

Josh Smith is a MUCH better option at this point than Diallo. I really had trouble watching last game when Diallo was playing. He was completely lost on both ends of the floor, couldn't grab a rebound for his life, was getting destroyed in the post, it was just bad. Theres nothing that Diallo can do that Smith can't do. Smith is actually a decent playmaker too.

Imagine the depth this team would have if they could turn Asik/Diallo, and a first for Bledsoe!

PG:Rondo, Bledsoe,Nelson
SG:Holiday, Moore, Clark,Allen,Jackson
SF:Cunningham,Hill,
PF:Davis,Smith
C:Cousins,Ajinca

only position I'm not comfortable will here is the small forward but everything else looks solid.

I did a little looking into the available bigs most of the players left are guys that can't play in the league any more like Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes. There were more options at PF though

Lavoy Allen
Brandon Bass
Kris Humphries

All seem like decent alternatives to Smith. However, Terrence Jones reminded me a lot of Josh Smith in that they both really liked taking shots they were bad at. When AD was out last year Terrence Jones stepped up and averaged over 20ppg. Maybe they're hoping for similar production from a similar player. I know I wouldn't think getting 20ppg out of any of the 3 I listed above was even possible.

I don't want Josh Smith scoring 20 points in a game. That means he likely took 20 shots, and should never take more than about 6 or 7, and they should all be at the rim.

Any of those 3 options would have been better.

Josh Smith is the exact opposite kind of player we would like to have on this team right now. All we are preaching is ball movement and smart shots, and you bring in a guy that is the most known ball stopper and stupid shot taker this century in the NBA.
I literally laugh out loud every time he takes a jump shot. I don't know if i can be on the other end of that. I'm going to have to change the channel when he comes in.

Josh smith has better talent, no question, but he’s a headache. Maybe the group of veterans we have can control him, idk.

I just looked at his shot distribution in Houston, 50% of his shots were from 3 Granted he was just a role player there, but if they don't make his role with the Pels to play in the paint or at least cut to the paint it will get ugly.
