Jones had some great games at UK, then disappear for a bit. He was doing fine in Houston and suffered a freak injury that could have ended his career. Some big nerve in his leg. He is worth a helluva lot more than he's making and will get paid somewhere. Word is his agents looking for 15 mil+.per year.

This will not happen unless they significantly increase the projected cap. I'm sure his agent looked at Ryno getting $20 and a guy like Jon Leuer getting $10 and figured he can get Jones $15. There are about as many factors that will slow down the FA frenzy this offseason as there were factors that made last offseason so crazy.

your earlier point is valid however
with asik and ajinca on the cap they may not be able to afford jones or DMo

we paid solomon hill 11.2 mill a year. terrance jones is worth every cent of 15 million a year. solomon, asik, ajinca are all trash and qpon might as well be thrown away too. he's all dirty and bent bc he got pushed and shoved too much.

Solomon Hill got overpaid in a FA market where the supply of money greatly exceeded the supply of talent. Terrence Jones will be a free agent in a year where that isn't the case, and on top of that the Mid Level Exception will be returning with the new CBA. Before the current CBA the MLE was a pretty big price point setter because it was usually all the good playoff teams had to offer players. If someone thinks Jones is their answer at starting PF then maybe they will pay him $15, but if he is being looked at in the role he plays for the Pels, he's in that $8-$10 million range.

You just listed why we can't keep him. Because we are paying a bunch of trash players.

Trade him now

So, based on this convoluted logic, since we overpay for trash, we should overpay even more for an average player? And you want to criticize Loomis and upper management as much as you do?

Would Gentry play Jason Smith? He's mobile enough and has a jumper so I think so, right? Galloway and Jones to Washington for Jason Smith and a top 20 protected 1st.

Had to look up and see where the Wiz are. Currently the 5 seed in the East so that would work for us.

Demps/Gentry won't do it though because it makes us much worse in the short term.

No more talented player wants to come here. At least we have Jones is friends with AD type cord here.

I think Jones can honestly get 8-10mil on the open market if he stays healthy all year

That is more realistic than $15 million per year. There is not as big a jump in cap this year as last, so I would think the spending on average talent will not be as outrageous. However, spending will be higher than we are previously used to. I can see him getting something in the range of 3 years/$25-28 million.

And it keeps our team exactly the same except worse.

I would rather maneuver around smaller deals or go for it all, if we aren't going to do what we should do and rebuild.
