Sending out the best player in a trade in the NBA never works out. Stop

If you’re sending out the best player in a trade, you damn sure better be winning it and not giving up three times the value of the other teams.

Trey Murphy has averaged 20.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 20 games in his last 20 games in his career.

If you think the Pels win by sending out BI and 5 1sts for an unproven draft choice, a relatively unproven Sharpe, a 21 million center who is not that much better than JV and an expiring contract, then I do not know what to say other than, thank God you are not in charge. That would be one of the worst trades in quite some time.

Do you know why Sharpe did well in the last 20? The Blazers shut it down and benched Lillard and Simons. He was basically their only offense. I think he will be a good player, but if you take out the garbage time at the end of the season, he was average at best.

You are stuck on this when we need another team to take Simons to make the trade work money wise.
Simons is a very good player. It is not like they are trying to dump an aging Westbrook with multiple years left on his contract.

Do you get to keep Herb?

It's a made up trade, we have no idea if either team is remotely interested, much less what they'd want in return.

Spurs would take Simons into salary cap space and probably give up picks to do it. You’re acting like Simons is some sort of bum.

hol up... I didn't even notice that

We're giving up the best player in the trade AND the most draft picks?

I mean all trades are theoretical until they are not Shel.

Yes you get all that AND stay under the tax AND if something isnt working out you can make a few other moves (mainly folks at the bottom of the roster to clear room for another ~25m-30m player.)

The picks given up are irrelevant as we would have no spot for a mid to late FR on the roster for the next two years.

The picks we keep come up on the year where roster spots are available.

Since when are first round picks irrelevant? You make no sense whatsoever.

They're highly relevant because they have value.

It's never a winning trade to give up the best player AND the most draft picks.

When you dont have a place on the roster to put them they kinda are.

Also, you run into this problem of having too many projects. At some point you gonna push your chips in.

Unless you want to eject Naji and a few others. (Which you could in theory)

Yeah, that’s the problem.

He seems to think just because we have extra picks we should trade them for whatever.

This trade would be like Miami sending out Adebayo and 5 1sts to get back OG and FVV

And Scoot
And Keep Herb
And Pay Trey
And have the ability to generate another Max slot.

Edit: Oh and stay under the Tax

What good does this do? Zero chance we get a max free agent, and you traded all the valuable 1sts, so we can't trade for 1 either.

Or, you'd have essentially trade the same assets you obtained for a max, which puts you right back where we were with BI.
