He gets paid too much next season.
An average of 40M for the next 4 years.
If it keeps AD then I'd be more than happy.

Niko, Hill, Clark and the 2019 first for Wall, Oubre and Morris.

Then flip Johnson for a rim protecting big.

Damn he is getting paid

If you could get him to come here this team would be a top 3 in the whole NBA

He would improve the team, but problem is that he doesn’t improve the defense enough if at all and that’s one of our huge problems.

Can’t be a top 3 team when you constantly leave nba caliber players wide open on 3pt shots. That stuff is beyond frustrating.

He’s paid too much.
He’s lazy off the ball(as in moves the least amount in the league)
Knee problems
Ball stopper
Etc.

Wizards have like 4 other guys I’d rather have than Wall at his contract/playing style.

Isn't Wall a pass first guard?

B/c Wall will be making $40-50M.
If you resign AD, he'll be making $40-50M
Jrue is making $25M.
You'd have a team of AD/Jrue/Wall making $105-125M. The cap is going to be at $109M. If that trio isn't winning championships, or at least playing for them, then it makes no sense to have those 3 on a team making that much.
John Wall has played with talented teams and done nothing in a very easy conference to do something in.
That's why not.

he is no longer one of the fastest, after injury.

He's not a great outside shooter.

He's a very good point guard.

You can't create a deep roster with 3 guys using up your whole budget. Your roster is jrue, ad, wall and 12 rookies on league minimum.

If we're trading for anyone from Washington it needs to be Porter and Sato.. Those 2 would help us alot more than Wall would.

Because our defense sucks enough without paying $40M for someone with this kind of effort: Twitter

Also, as of last week, he is playing with the slowest pace of anyone in the Eastern Conference.

Would be nice to get Oubre, but at his salary and age, the Wizards are not parting with him.

I would honestly do it. Do I think it would work? Probably not. But it has a chance to. I don't see getting guys like Ariza or Bazemore or even Porter really doing anything.

I would say there is a 25 percent chance that Wall could still be a stud with a change of scenery, a faster pace and an elite big to lob it up to. And if that happens, and the Pels go on a run and look great in the playoffs, AD re-signs

Then, it is true that you are paying major money to three guys in the future and it will be hard to assemble the rest of the roster, but that is a better problem to have than trying to sell a city on why they should care about a team that lost two all time greats.

There are safer paths, but none have this upside. I'd make plays for other stars first, of course. But if I cant get them and Washington would do Morris and Wall for Niko and Hill, I pull the trigger

Only way I'd remotely entertain it is if it's in the offseason and AD tells us if we do it he'll resign. Obviously that doesn't mean he actually will resign, but if he says that, i take the chance.

In general, I hate it. Wall is on an absolutely terrible contract...that hasn't even started yet. But if that's how we keep AD, whatever it takes IMO.

Unless Wall's knee issues are career threatening, it's a no brainier to me. When Wall is healthy, his PnR game is as good as anyone. Wall running PnR with Davis, Randle, or Morris would immediately be the go to to play in the playoffs when buckets are tough. When Davis isn't involved in the PnR, he would be a nightmare on the weakside as a lob threat or on the offensive boards.

If AD leaves after next season, we're stuck with this Wall contract:

2021: $40.8mil
2022: $43.8mil
2023: $46.mil

In other words, the franchise is completely screwed for years.

...We're going to be getting multiple players on rookie contracts, or we're going to be tanking. Wall's 3 remaining contract years aren't changing that.

1. Rookie contracts don't last forever, Wall is getting paid for a long time.

2. Not that Wall is a world beater but if we're tanking, we need to commit to a tank and be awful for a bit.

I'm pretty shocked anyone would argue for Wall EVEN if AD left after next season.

The argument is for the deal to be made this year due to the potential of pairing 2 elite players who compliment each other. The secondary point is that the downside if it fails and Davis leaves, is not much worse than Davis leaving without Wall being on the team.

Completely disagree.
