I agree

If I knew he'd be healthy I would never want to trade him because he does indeed fit well with this team.

Like the CP3 thing, this has all become a huge distraction, unfortunately.

If we think he's going to stay healthy enough to play consistently and boost his trade value, then we might as well keep him. If we don't think he can do that, then his value isn't getting any higher and we might as well trade him ASAP. I'm trusting Monty and Dell with this one being as they have more insight on his health than we do.

His perimeter defense is pretty suffocating, even with a bum knee.

Make 1 defensive team before the word elite is used tho

Yeah, I wouldn't throw the word elite around so liberally.

i don't think he has the desire to become one of the league's best.

What about him tells you this? He plays hard on the court no matter what. I don't think a player just looking to collect a check would do that.

Fair enough. I still think he's one of the best guards in the league at guarding the perimeter, just maybe not good enough to beat out the guys on the list.

How often he doesn't play. How often he's not at games.

I attend many home games. In a few games last year and a few this year, I have seen Gordon pout like a baby on a few plays when the ball wasn't going threw him. On two of these plays he bobbled an offensive rebound out of bounds and was NO WHERES on D for a transition fast break.

Defense is average I'd say.

I just don't think this is very true. He often times looks lost and lazy, anyone can that watches can see this.

ya, he plays hard in 20 games a a year...super impressive. he hasn't played as well as i was hoping. He looks like a solid player, who is always hurt, on a max contract...trade

i'm not saying he's just collecting a check, but i don't think he's striving for excellence either.

...your head is in the sand on gordon anyway....he's great. we should have given him two max contracts.

i attribute that more to fatigue/getting back into game shape than laziness. maybe that's too optimistic of me, though.

If you trade him when healthy, then you are at a point where you think he will not be able to stay healthy. If there is a window there, you take advantage of it.

On the flip side, if things are the same next year, his stock can't really get any lower. It's worth the risk to wait

Quail, I understand why you say this. I try saying it to. He is under contract and we should root for him.

Some of these 'issues' there are no getting around. Add in the constant trade talk right now on ESPN and other news sources and we have this dialogue daily about Gordon.

At what point will Gordon put this all to rest is now the new question I have. Can he ever?

no.

...i think at the least, trade rumors will surround him for as long as he's here.

he caused that with his terrible attitude and heart in phoenix bullshite....not to mention, other stuff he may have done that we don't know about.

Ok buddy. Sorry I'm not butthurt about his Phoenix comments and so I don't want to trade him for a 3 point specialist.

If injuries were related to desire to be great then Brandon Roy would still have cartilage in his knees. The not going to games part was shitty but if the stories we heard were true that he felt that the medical staff was lying to him to get him to sign for less money, then it's completely understandable from his viewpoint.

Yeah I can't figure that one out. They said that he wanted to play through it but our staff wanted to hold him out so it's strange that he wouldn't be there.

I get that he can get fully healthy for a period of time (talking 1/2 season - full season), and then end up getting injured again. But if he's healthy for a long enough period to show he's overcome his current knee issue and starts to play to his potential, unless there is something personal with him (ie Thornton), then what is the point of trading him?

Or if you are saying that he gets healthy enough to play the majority of his games, but not fully recovered (almost like he is now, except playing back to backs), then surely other teams will be able to figure out just as well as we can that he isn't 100%.

I get what you're saying for the most part though. It would be like if Gordon was at this stage in his healing process in December, but the time the deadline came teams would be less leery, but what are the odds of that window actually lining up? I figure at this point after 5 years, he is either going to get healthy by next season, or just continue to always be hurt. I feel like the end of this year going into next season is the last chance he has to shake his "injury prone" status.
