He's not Mobley or Ayton either, and can't anchor a Defense now. I think he can contribute, adding size to perimeter defense by default, or more, some particular need of off-ball rim protection. There may be more to the issue but available players that can help the team on court make sense to play and he's racking up DNPs. He's had a tough entry in the league for sure.

I remember Willie was asked during one of the post practice interviews about what Hayes has to do to get back into the rotation and he bluntly said that conversation is between him and Jaxson with no further details. Moved on from the question really quick.

I 100% guarantee you that Jaxson has cussed out coaches this season. He's probably tried to fight teammates. What we know about Jaxson and have seen from him in the past make it obvious that not all his problems relate to his performance on the floor.

He definitely seems immature for his age on top of being young to the sport in general, and seemingly a bit entitled mentally.

Not a good combo for early success

On the plus side, maybe stuff like this will get the ego and motivated reasoning working with some GM's thinking they can "fix" him and it's just because we aren't as "good" as they are. They can treat him right and unlock him(and who knows, maybe thats true, certainly feels like if Hayes was playing with a traditional lead guard he'd at least have rotational lineup utility in the PnR)

There is absolutely no reason to be shitting on this young man. I know he made some mistakes doing the off season, but those of you without Sin, cast the first stone. He is young and he is human, give the guy a break.

well i didn't get arrested in the offseason, so i'm free to cast however many stones i want.

and that incident has zero reason why he doesn't play. It's just an example of the immaturity he's shown off the court, and more than likely in practice and around the team.

From what Hayes has shown on the floor so far this year, he doesn't deserve to take minutes away from Willy H. The fact that he hasn't shown consistent ability to show basic basketball fundamentals on defense and rebounding bodes poorly for his future career. Maybe he is a slow learner, immature, or other issues are hampering him. Time will tell.
