This isn't a thread mad that we lost, but how we lost.

We have no inside presence and it hurt us on both ends tonight. Melli can be a Peja-type for us on offense, but we may as well be playing 4-on-5 defensively.

Favors is a useful player but I'm not sure is built for our style of play. He looked lost defensively today which is a tad alarming.

Zion would've made a world of difference tonight just by having a post guy that could score in the paint and defend on the perimeter.

That was a fun game to watch though. I haven’t been that excited watching a Pels team in a long time. Lot to like

Dude... they played well enough to win tonight. Nothing to be ashamed about. They will continue to get better. The post game hot takes are so stupid.

Zion will help out favors in a way that Gobert was there. Favors needs another actual big stocky forward with him. He doesn't fit with a stretch type of 4 playing with him. He's not quick enough to be a "roamer". They need to adjust the D to better fit him

It wasn't a bad loss. That's a stiff place to win and this is a completely different team. There were less growing pains than I expected.

Yeah, we can score with anyone even without Zion. But the way we constantly played right into their traps on defense without really any adjustments was infuriating.

The hot takes are retarded.

So many positives tonight on the road @ defending champs.. missing our new race horse.

We will be fine.

I think this is a pretty measured take.

Again, I don't give a shite that we lost. I am concerned that we still get worked on defense the same way teams worked us last year.

This isn't just a one game thing... we looked lost on defense in the preseason too.

What about last year?

We couldn't defend a high-ball screen then either.

I thought Melli was good on defense?

You are really overanalyzing this game. There are mostly positives to take from it.

The single biggest negative from tonight was that our best player looked lost.

Jrue was never comfortable. He started out as the passive, let everyone else get going guy. Then, he never could get going. Even worse, he looked confused defensively. There were five or six times where he looked unsure on rotations. He still had 4 or 5 spectacular individual defensive plays but you could tell there was some apprehension and confusion tonight. An average game from Jrue and we win by 6-8 points.

I fully expect this to not be an issue going forward. Gentry needs to get this fixed ASAP. We have to get Jrue going early in games. It just sucks that it happened in a winnable game to start the season.

Jrue went 0 for 2 on Technical free throws with under 6 minutes to go in the 4th. That was the game there!
