I was still young and not into basketball as much when we had the number 1 pick with AD (only 20 now) but is it arguable that Zion is more hyped coming to Nola then AD was? I’m very excited about the future of this basketball team whether AD stays or not, because the resources we get from a trade with him are going to be very key. Zion seems like the type to want to build his own, this is a perfect landing spot. Give him the keys and some shooters and let’s see what happens!

Yes. Zion has a Lebron level hype if not higher since Zion actually had a bigger national presence than Lebron pre-NBA Draft.

Lol easily. Zion has the hype of Lebron, but with the presence of social media as well

No it's not arguable. It's fact.

AD was the consensus #1 pick for his draft, but most people thought he would be limited offensively (think Nerlens Noel), so his hype wasn't close to what Zion's is right now.

AD was a lot more unfinished on the offensive side coming out of college. not to say Zion is a finished product but has a lot more skills coming into the league.

People thought AD’s peak was Marcus Camby

Which never made sense to me.

All the analysis back then was that he couldn't shoot. But just because he didn't need to shoot a lot in college didn't mean he couldn't.

I remember watching the title run and thinking every time he did get a shot off that it looked smooth. He didn't look like a normal clunky bumbling 7 ft center with the ball in his hands.

AD was a national champ that only lost 1 game his Freshman season. People said he is a once in a generation player. AD was also a #2 prospect coming out of high school behind Austin Rivers lol.

In fairness, I haven’t seen a player more hyped than Zion since AD.

Did you forget all the KG, Duncan, and Bill Russell comparisons?

Thats not the reason.

He's just an unreal player and has been since he was in high school. There were more videos of him dunking and going viral than any player i've ever seen.

Ive still never seen the level of hype Lebron had in 03....that shite was INSANE! And this was before social media. Zion hype was crazy but man Lebron? It was everywhere since his 11 grade year. Literally they knew he was going #1 in the draft when he was in the 11th grade.

AD was hyped as a rich man's Marcus Camby. Zion is the most hyped player and his only modern comparison is LeBron James coming out of high school.

I agree. ESPN even televised some of his high school games.

1000 new season ticket sales following the draft in 2012 vs. approaching 4000 season tickets after this one.

So yeah, I'd say he is more hyped.
