LINK =

Sorry for the blind link, but I saw this on Instagram and didn’t know another way to post it. Really reminds me of Trey. He’s either shooting 3’s or dunking.

Also, Trey plays D and pretty well recently.

I'm not sure we've seen anyone like him before. Not saying he's a generational talent, but his mix of elite shooting with length and athleticism and defensive focus/interest is just rare. Guys with similar 2 way skills haven't been this big, and guys this big in Trey's ball park haven't been this skilled or 2 way.

The funny thing is the book on Trey was he’s a good shooter with good length but low ceiling due to lack of athleticism. Like who was doing the assessment and what were they drinking that day??

Sure but with higher potential, more hops, and eventually better defense.

JR the homie, I went to HS with the mf’er. I was thrilled when New Orleans drafted him. I say all that to say… Your description is accurate AF!!!

Clearly, we need a game thread.

I think Trey(and also guys like Cunningham or Ingram), demonstrate the fallacy of automatically thinking combine athleticism is transferable/limiting with regard to court success/player ceiling.

Sure there is a baseline of athleticism and lateral movement you need to just not get run off the court for your position, but once you have that, guys with high IQ’s, smart decision-making, high skills, and know how to play within themselves can find a ton more success than a Julian Wright or Jaxson Hayes that can jump out of the gym, but that’s really it.

Hell I wouldn’t be shocked if 35 year old Julian Wright could beat Murphy in a number of combine drills still, but put a ball in both’s hands and ask them to play in an offense and Murphy will run circles around Wright, literally.

Hopefully, Trey will blow right by Big Shot Bob. Horry was never a solid shooter, just made his rep on hitting some extremely well-timed 3s. Having said that, Horry actually was...a very solid defender, when he wanted to be.

Kind of crazy to think that Trey still has a lot of untapped potential and development to round out his game. He's starting to dribble the ball more now. Man if his on ball game develops, we're talking about a budding star in the making. And we haven't even dive into advanced movement shooting yet.

This feels right to me…plays a bit upright, but still athletic and a good stroke.

Best part about Trey so far is his work ethic and desire to be a complete player…he has the tools for that to take him a long way.
