Is pecking order a concern for the keep AD people?

AD is an elite level player and I believe we should all be in favor of retaining an elite level player.

However, would you view a clear pecking order as a concern?

Who is the alpha on the team? A lot of times, this stuff actually matters. We have seen Wade say that he had to realize he was a beta to Lebron and give up the team to him.

I would think most of would view Zion as the alpha moving forward. Would this potentially cause issues? Can AD swallow his pride?

if you don't think jrue is the undisputed alpha on the team after this season, you haven't been paying attention

AD requested a trade with a year and a half left on his deal to be a Beta to LeBron.

Pecking order will not be an issue. AD doesn't have a leader's mentality.

yes

zion is a 19 yr old kid.
Davis was the same way and kind of never grew out of it personality wise.
a pecking order is crucial and we’ve seen that Davis at the top won’t work.

so it absolutely matters.
if Davis isn’t cool with jrue being the dominant voice then it won’t work and he should tell griffin that. There’s no shame in that. This is why it matters that holiday is at the meeting...griffin needs to see holiday in action as the alpha, and this is his first opportunity to do that

after the break jrue stood tall and said , win or loose,we will play hard and every team will feel us......the team responded by playing good ball until AD started getting his spot minutes and messing the team up....

this is jrue team now and the defense should be good by players following his lead....

You think anyone is pulling Zion’s pants down and spanking him?

The keep AD people don’t matter. He is NOT coming back. I don’t understand why this is so hard to grasp for some. Hopefully the pelicans can pull Memphis into a 3 way trade with the Knicks. I’d love to end up with morant and a few pieces for AD.

I don't think either scenario will be hard to grasp. It is simply that "the meeting" has not yet happened. Either outcome: AD in, or AD out will be handled with the dignity and respect it deserves; or not.

I agree with your sentiment. I also believe AD will opt out of the Pelicans. I actually enjoy the excitement a new roster brings.

Morant and Zion would be excitement on steroids.

I put AD staying about the same odds as us getting Morant along with Zion.

I dunno why Davis would have a problem with Zion overshadowing him when Davis has done little to nothing in seven years to show he has any leadership qualities.

Getting 3rd billing when you join KD and Kyrie in NY is very different than seeing yourself replaced on NOLA billboards and the jumbotron by a rookie and your former sidekick. I don't know if that's even a thought that's entered his head, but accepting that is what I think would be the hardest part of deciding to stay.

Exactly. Can he fake be the 2nd to last name called in intros? Can he take the crowd cheering more for Zion than him?

Can he take all the media going to a rookie’s locker and not him?

I don’t think he can.

Yeah Wade did say that but I think it was more of a situation where that team had two alphas

Be serious. He’d still be the best player on the team so he’d still be the last player introduced.

I don’t think so. If AD chooses to stay, people will forget all the bull shite and the fans will love him (and Zion) like they did before

Devil's advocate: What if Zion was the igniter, and AD is the bomb? Zion has the personality to be the face, no doubt. What is Zion's star is so bright that it pulls AD with him to the stratosphere (AD shoe deal could finally be signed). Highlights every game on national TV. Some showing Zion monster dunks, great passing, etc. But in all of those ESPN national coverage, there will be AD; being fed by Zion, or feeding Zion. The dynamic duo.

Maybe???

Nobody is saying that Zion and AD can't work well. The problem is that the way they are being brought together requires a level of mental and emotional fortitude that AD hasn't shown before and that isn't required with the other options Klutch has in mind for AD.

No. I do agree. My response, although, poorly conveyed was more along the lines of marketing prospects and love and coverage AD would garner with Zion.

It would be easier to market AD, Zion and Jrue than it was AD, Boogie and Jrue.

I think Zion is going to suck all the oxygen out of the room. He’s going to get crazy coverage.
