I'm just fine with firing him, but i'm more on board with tanking for a top 5 pick, so maybe keeping him until the end of the year is better for the tank.

I just hope there isn't some hidden deal to tank and his job is safe b/c it's part of the plan for this year.

The players do not seem happy at all, and i know losing helps with that, but there's just something going on with too many people either caring to much about their trade or FA value or just being happy collecting a check. No fire whatsoever to be a winning professional basketball player. Never looked that way under Monty.

Uhhh yes we did. We lost of TON of games during Monty's tenure purely for lack of effort.

Maybe it's because we're losing so much, but it just seems like he's going to that well so often it can't still be an effective motivational tool.

Like losing to a bad Sixers team, then beating a hot Toronto team, then losing to the shitty Knicks, then win 6 of your next 7 after that. I'm sure effort has something to do with it, but I think it had more to do with not having a true closer, and AD routinely going games were he'd literally only touch the ball once in the last 3 minutes of a game.

We lost games with Monty to teams we shouldn't have lost to. But then we'd come back and beat a top 5 team in the league. If I remember correctly, the only teams we didn't beat last year were Washington and Chicago. Yet we still lost to just about every shitty team in the league.
This year we're just losing.

Agh, that is exactly what we are doing.

In fact under Monty we had a losing record with 2+ days rest. For good teams that should never happen. We also lost to a lot of sub .500 teams and almost went .500 against a pathetic eastern conference.

Kind of like how we've lost to the Lakers and Suns but have beaten the Cavs, Spurs, and lost in OT on the road to the Clippers (Without AD)?

This team has issues much deeper than the coaching staff.

5 of our 11 wins are against teams with a winning record, and only 1 has been on the road.

We have more 4 game losing streaks than we have 2 game winning streaks.

We had two 4 game losing streaks last year. One was when AD got hurt against Chicago and missed the next 3 games, games in which Ryno didn't play in either, and the other losing streak was later in the season against 4 playoff teams with 3 on the road, and then we won 8 of our next 11 to close the season out.

I don't mind comparing this team to last years b/c they are the same team, just a different coach. Both teams had many injury problems, but we somehow managed through them last year.

That was frustrating, and what everyone was saying was if we just start putting away those lesser teams, then we should be a pretty good team with over 50 wins easily. Instead, we are going to be a 50 loss team.

Have you ever seen a team expected to win 50+ at the beginning of the season go and lose 50? We have been one of the biggest disappointments ever this year. All we did was change our coach and lost QPon, who played 45 games last year. EG and Ryno missed 20+ games, Jrue missed 40+, AD missed 14, yet we still managed to have a comfortable winning record. Reke only missed 3.

This year EG has missed ZERO somehow, Ryno only 2, Jrue 6, AD 5, and Evans the big one with almost 20. That's the main 5. We are almost through the halfway point in the season. We've had more EG, more Ryno, more AD, more Jrue, and less Tyreke as opposed to last season.

Is Tyreke Evans that important to this team?
Or maybe Alvin Gentry is just not a good head coach, and his previous records further prove that.

AD being a terrible leader probably doesn't help.

I agree. This has gotten beyond old. He takes the blame for nothing. He acts as if he can do no wrong. He got this job just because he road the coattails of the Warriors. He has not been successful as a head coach in his long career, yet now he thinks he is infallible.

Well, he has been a head coach in the NBA for 12 seasons before this one.

He's had a winning record 3 times. Losing record 8 times. 1 time his team was .500

I'm guessing he's just not a good head coach.

It's a shame, but he needs a H.O.F. Point Guard for this offense to really click the way he wants it to.

Not a knock on Holiday, but Jrue is not fit for this style of play.

He ripped his players’ willingness to play hard with a sense of the purpose for the full 48 minutes. Tony Parker, looking nothing like his 33 years, playfully schooled Reggie Jackson, scoring 14 of his game-high 31 points in that quarter. Van Gundy didn’t hold back his ire afterwards, saying that four of those shots Parker took during that sequence were “pretty damn easy shots.”
SVG has clout, he's a good coach.

It's very different when a bottom 2-3 coach is constantly ripping into his team. Be better, then you can deserve to call out your team.

And I was more than happy with the Gentry hire fwiw, but it's obvious now that he's terrible.
