You’ll catch some flack here, but this is an appropriate response to being victimized by a franchise you once fully supported. It can be cathartic.

Gayle Benson can get fricked. She's the worst owner in the NFL and NBA.

I've been saying this for years. Glad to see more people realizing she has more passion for pedophiles than fans of the sports teams she owns.

If you are letting this team truly affect your emotions to the point of depression you need to work on that.

I have very little real emotional connection to either team anymore. Saints there's still a little bit, Pelicans none.

If either get good again I am sure I will get a little caught up but it won't be the same.

And yes, besides Dallas, we our the most depressed fanbase in the league.

I'd probably guess that fans of the Wizards and Hornets are worse than we are. They are a combined 73-255 the last 2 seasons

For comparison, we are 70-94.

Here’s a thought. How about giving Dumars a fair chance to do the job once
he takes the reigns. What happened in Detroit one way or another doesn’t matter. I’ll admit I watched Joe play in high school and liked him, but that means nothing now…

Basically this. If the team is winning next year, I'd assume all the people on this thread will be rooting for the Pels.

But yeah, retaining Green is going to make me vomit.

Sports are entertainment. You should engage because it is fun. If it is not fun, disengage. Switch teams! Spend 3 hours reading a book! Talk to your wife/kids!

There are no rules about sports fandom, even if we think there are. Life is nasty, brutish, and short. Why add to the pain? If the Pelicans make you sad, stop watching them and do other stuff.

I agree that it can be tough to get off that narcotic. Take fantasy football. I played fantasy football back when you had to get the actual newspaper to tally up the week's points. I loved fantasy football until I started to resent it. It stopped making me happy. So I stopped. I don't miss it. Quit the Pels and move on with your life. Maybe pick your favorite non-Pelican and become a fan of that team.

Don't look back!

I think the last straw for me is if we trade the pick. I prob become a fan of whatever team Harper goes too. Also a big fan of how the Thunder run their organization.

Ultimately I will always have a soft spot for the Pelicans but I won't be fully invested again until ownership is changed or if we get a top two pick and I'll just watch for our Rook (Cooper or Dylan)

Fantastic post about not only sports but life ( crappy jobs , wives etc) Life is too short to be concerned about things we can’t control!

I was depressed about the way our season went. I'm straight up pissed about the way the last 2 off seasons have gone. The fricking clown show that was the TV deal debacle last offseason told us this franchise was a joke that didn't care about the fans.

Trade Zion for ?
This is the real question but yes, Pels don't arrive to be contender with Zion.

1-2 mid level starters and a 26 1st and 27 2nd seems reasonable.

I was a diehard fan, not missing a game. The last couple of seasons really took a toll on me lol. I didn’t watch a single game in 2025. The franchise lost me and nothing inspiring is coming with the recent news. Until they get rid of Willie and Completely revamp this roster, I see nothing changing. Griff getting fired is whatever to me. This team is cursed with injuries and unprofessionalism. So… yeah can’t wait for next season lol

Don’t give pelicans that right!

I was cool with the bi\zion rest game every 4 games when they were healthy… then injuries happen. One of bi\z is waiting on a game break, it’s not there. Horrible cancer for an organization. Griff\loomis\gayle injury chairs is their right as a business owner. But it’s an ideology that could ruin a great basketball player. Dyson daniels may or not been a good example.

Zion may or may not be making a business decision. However, you may be passing up your glory days playing business.

Don’t give away your joy.
