For some reason this is less than I was expecting in my head.
Same.
How is Tatum's 5 year's $195m?
Edit: Nevermind. Just caught up in the thread.

That's $385,000 per game. In 3 hoops games he'll make as much as the NFL sack leader (Trey Hendrickson) made all season.

escalator clauses, which Bam also got but it does not appear that BI did, yet.

Rose Rule...he made 2+ All-Star teams so he gets 30% of cap versus 25%

Back in 2011, the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement included a rule named after Derrick Rose. ... The rule allows a player finishing his rookie contract to make 30 percent of a team's salary cap — up from 25 percent — if he's twice been voted an All-Star starter, twice been voted All-NBA or won an MVP award.

BI isn’t eligible for that clause. All the other players, Fox, Tatum and Bam, have 1 year before their extensions kick in. The escalators are if the quality for the Rose rule escalators. BI’s contract is for the current season and he did not meet rose rule criteria this past season. His max is the most he can get.

Yeah you are correct, I had forgotten about the Rose rule.
I mean...that works out pretty well for us

Bam and Tatum most likely will...Fox probably not

I didn't realize Tatum was All NBA this season.
I figured they were both All Stars and would get the same max.

Tatum's deal doesn't start until next season, same with Bam.

ingram's deal is not an extension. its is anew contract. had he signed it last year (he could have, pels did not offer it) it would be an extension
thats the difference

yes, sorry
even the NBA reporters (woj) are calling it an extension LOL

I think they kind of word it that way when it's a RFA.

As a restricted free agent, he is under team control. We do actually offer him a contract in order to obtain that team control. While I certainly wouldn’t call it a “contract” extension, there are semantics involved here.

quote:Are these the ones related to make an All NBA team?
I have seen that about Bam and other player's maxes but not BI's yet.
If so, that is not something we can just offer, that is something a player has to qualify for, correct? And would the max contract be the qualifier?
ETA: I see the Rose Rule discussion on page 2, but that seems to point to 2 All Stars and getting 30% of the cap instead of 25%. But what's the one that has the escalators for 1st/2nd/3rd team All NBA?

The 1st through 3rd all nba could apply to Rose Rule, but you’re probably referring to the DPE or “supermax”. Essentially nba max contracts are based off of years of experience. So players coming off the rookie scale can sign for 25% of the cap, players with 7-9 years of experience can sign up to 30% and 10+ years 35%. Rose rule criteria, all nba etc. get a player on their second contract from 25% to 30%. DPE, all nba and being drafted by a team or traded while still on rookie contract, lets a player with 7-9 years of experience bump up from 30% to a 35% max.

You'd have to be a fool, if you are talented enough to play any sport at a high level, to choose anything other than basketball.

there are 450 NBA players and the league has a 10% turnover every year. High school players have better odds of drawing 4 of a kind on a five card deal
