Windhorst was just on NBA Radio and said that he thought that the holdup was likely on whether the 5th year would or would not be a player option year.

I've been wondering how that would play out. It seems like it should be a very short conversation that ends with the Pels caving. The Pels have no leverage, especially after Mitchell and Tatum got a 4 + 1.

Trying to brow beat Ingram into a 5th year seems like a terrible idea. What could Griff possibly do to sweeten the pot, no pun intended?

Also, if Windhorst said it was "likely" then he's just guessing. On a Pels centric pod soon after the Jrue trade he basically admitted that Griff is a source but he hasn't heard from him recently.

I doubt it. It was almost certainly waiting on Jrue trade to get official.

The Pels may have been trying to hold out slightly on that but they will lose that pretty quickly.

It'll be a 4+1 and there's no need to create any acrimony over something like that.

Why would we even slightly argue over this? If he wants the player option you give it to him, if he doesn’t you don’t. Simple as that.

Again I ask would Ingram take a mil or so less year one to help the team stay below tax to add another wing. Would still get same max dollars. Just a thought.

Don't ask him that. That's not his problem. You get your money. You don't worry about your employers finances.

Impossible, he can only get 8 percent raises each year, so if he's taking a million less in year one, he's taking less overall on the whole contract.
