via the athletic, article on moore's game vs the raptors and his overall effectiveness.

LINK

quote:

Here’s something Moore undeniably is, though: One of the deadliest floater specialists in basketball. This was not a one-game aberration. Moore is legitimately among the best shooters in basketball in the short mid-range, from roughly 4-to-14 feet from the basket. Per Cleaning the Glass, this is the sixth consecutive season in which Moore is taking a 90th percentile or higher volume of his shots in that area and it’s the fourth time in the last five years that he’s been in the 95th percentile or better converting those shots.

quote:

Narrowing that range to 4-to-10 feet, Moore is tied with noted master of the floater DeMar DeRozan for the best mark (50 per cent) in that range among non-bigs, and only Jonas Valanciunas and Karl-Anthony Towns are better among bigs (minimum 25 attempts so far). Those numbers are subject to small sample, so for good measure: Moore led the NBA by shooting 54.3 per cent in that area a year ago, with the next-best player of any position coming in at 51.3 per cent (minimum 50 attempts).

more (moore?) at the link...its an excellent X's & O's breakdown of what the pels offense did to the raptors defense

In response to a question about Moore being one of the best guys in the league at the floater Julius Randle had this to say at practice yesterday:

quote:

Yeah he's great, getting into the lane for those tough contested mid range shots that are easy for him. They really had no answer for it and we just played off of that the entire night.

The guy has been consistently steady for this team for a while now. He's gotten better every year since he's been here. I love his game and it should age well as he gets older. I hope we bring him back for another contract. Dude is rock solid.

He is the type of pro great teams need. He works hard at his game and isn’t really a talker. He’s consistent and not high maintenance.

I sincerely hope we can keep him on the roster.

His floater reminds me of Tony Parker’s floater in his prime. Any time he is near the paint you know it’s going in. Maddening (for the opposition).

Moore is the lead off in Zach Lowe's latest column. Lowe has been a fan for a while.

quote:

He is among many nondescript "pretty good" wings who get tagged as replaceable. You might be able to find something like 85 percent of Moore's production at a cheaper rate, though that is becoming less true as Moore improves and salaries rise.

Even so: That 15 percent is the difference between someone who can play in the playoffs, and someone who can't.

LINK

There's a lot more at the link including clips of how the Pels are using Moore and AD to kill other teams, but this kind of sums up how I've changed my view on him. He used to be the first player I included in major trades. Now I wouldn't go so far as to say he's untradeable, but you have to be getting something pretty damn good back in return for it to not be a lateral move.

When FOXSW did the player spotlight on him a week or so ago, and just asked him some normal question for a get to know the players better type thing, he was so awkward.

Whats your favorite food?
"umm" *looks away from the camera and then back* "umm favorite food... chicken."

It was so boring but man I love that dude

WRiter of that article must have been reading my posts about Etwaun lately.

I agree that if he goes out in a trade, we better be getting a good player in return. I'm not sending Moore out to get back Bazemore, or Oubre.
Moore is a great compliment player to any good team. He knocks down threes at a very high rate, can get his own shot when needed, but will never demand the ball, just takes what the offense and defense gives him.

look at that chart above...
he is averaging 1.2 points for every possession he "uses". that is not just good, that is superstar elite. now if his usage were to go up, that efficiency would undoubtedly go down

as you say, he is a downright perfect complement to high usage stars

I think Dell mixed up Moore's and Solo's contracts.
