Really nice looking player but I don't see why he's even being talked about with our roster. He a better Herb Jones but where does that fit on this team.

1. It would take a haul to get him with multiple teams pushing for him.

2. He doesn't solve the 2 issues we have which is a rim protecting defensive big or another shooter from 3.

If we are going to make a move especially losing young talent or our giving up first round picks then we have to fill the 2 big holes we have. I would have a look at these players what can be had with much less capital.

Gary Trent Jr
Bojan Bogdanovic
Kelly Olynk
Myles turner
Buddy Heild

He’s a very good shooter from deep, especially from the corners where he shoots over 45%, and can guard 1-5.

OG is basically Herb Jones that shoots 36% from 3, instead of 18%. He also generally makes layups and isn’t much of a risk to foul out.

I think he also shoots over 40% from the corners.

OG is also legitimately only like 18 months older than Herb and his contract is reasonable- $18 mil a year

I understand the fit. He’s a more refined Herb basically.

Same

We need a knockdown shooter and rim protector

If we get OG, we spend a shite ton of assets, $30mil on his extension and our needs going forward are... still a knockdown shooter and rim protector.

That doesn't make any sense to me.

Or you could gamble that you could refine Herb at zero asset cost and 1/10 the salary.

ETA: like the player, but for what it seems like the price is, we either need to get a team-changing player or the final piece to unlock it all. I don't see how he qualifies as either.

This morning, I think that some Western Conference teams are looking for a guy who can guard KD, and they see OG as that guy.

More importantly, 40% on catch-and-shoot threes, which we'd be asking him to do a lot of with BI, Zion, and CJ taking up the bulk of the defensive focus.

He and Bridges are almost exactly the same in that metric.

I'd personally prefer Bridges due to contract and the potential to get Claxton, but I can see why OG would make sense to Griff. Even if I think it's not my favorite move.

And not worth how much you'd have to give up to just get a refined Herb.

I don't want him at all with his rumored asking price.
