Hypo: Cavs offer Kyrie for Boogie. Do you make that trade?

Just pure hypothetical: If Cavs offered Kyrie for Boggie and maybe some additional assets like Diallo and a 1st would you pull the trigger?

I would in a heartbeat, but I'm cold blooded. Feels like a messed up thing to do to Boogie but I wouldn't really care.

Interested to hear the debate.

I don't know. Pre Boogie putting a scoring star guard like Kyrie next to Jrue would have seemed like the best the team could do, but I'm really tempted to zig while the league is zagging rather than trying to out run the Warriors. The addition of KD just makes them unbeatable at that game. The teams that have given them the most trouble were teams that could out rebound them with their bigs like OKC and that was part of the Cavs success against them.

I wouldn't make the trade because I don't think Khiry would re-sign here whereas I think with Boogie there is a greater than 50% chance he does. I also want to see what two ultra versatile bigs can do for a full season.

We just invested in 126 million in Jrue and signed Rondo. Adding a ball dominant point guard makes no sense, especially at the expense of Cousins.

In isolation, yes I would. But like ^ said above, we're the only team who can "zig" while everyone else "zags"

But how does that make AD feel? That's the final question in ANY decision you make at this point.

It would have to be like Cousins and Asik for Irving, Frye, and picks.

I still don't think I like it, but that would give us back another all-star/all-nba player on a cheaper longer contract and more cap flexibility to continue to improve the team.

I think I still like our roster and core though. I am optikistic about Rondo and like the contrasting roster philosophy we have to other teams. I think if there was ever a chance to truly contend a team centered around the best big men in the NBA is the right thing to do.

I also think we have a better chance if Cousins wanting a long term career here.

I take the better player, which is Cousins

If Kyrie offered more than flashy scoring, sure. Can't defend worth a frick, can't pass. If he's THE GUY on a team that team isn't winning shite. Kyrie is a very good player, but he's not the guy I want around Davis. I'd prefer taking my chances with Boogie, and hope that Holiday can't help them. I know Rondo will at least get those 2 (AD/DC) the ball. Plus I think Cousins stays here, and he doesn't think the earth is flat.

The title has to be a slam dunk at this point. Cousins is better than Irving, so is Davis. We have two of the top 5 players in the world. Anything less than 60 wins and the conference finals is a letdown. Awesome..

Yes

No one says this. Davis is in the 5-7 range, I personally have him at 7th. Cousins is in that 9-15 range, and I'd have him 12th probably. Irving I would put somewhere around 18-25.

Shut the frick up

Kyrie + an unprotected first and I'd consider it, but probably still no.

Based on skills? Its a toss up. Kyrie & Jrue running around AD in the Finch offense would be incredible to watch. The only thing is you have to convince AD to play center. On the other side, we got a glimpse of how dominant AD and Boogie are together. Plus I don't think anyone can compete with Boogie down low. Kyrie isn't the best (great but not the best) at his position so we can't rely on him to be as consistent as Boogie to beat his man.

In terms of money? Absolutely give me Kyrie over the next 3 years for $19 mil any day over Boogie who will get about $30 mil next summer

Based on intangibles? Boogie has more fire, more passion, and more loyalty. I like the edge he plays with. And from what I've heard and seen loves New Orleans. He could still leave but I think we'd have a better shot with Cousins staying than Kyrie. Kyrie is currently the guy requesting a trade.

So for me it's Boogie 100x's out of 100

Ad is probably the 7-10th best player in the league. Definitely the best big man in the league right now. Whoever thinks boogie and AD are both top 5 overall in the league need to watch the NBA playoffs.

More than flashy scoring? Dude is a premier offensive talent and he scores with more efficiency than Cousins who is seven frickin feet tall. Can't pass? Lol cmon, what are you watching?

And Boogie was the guy for 6 seasons and won more than 30 games once

AD has been the guy since he's been here, 1 backdoor playoff appearance

Kyrie is cut from the same clothe as Damien Lillard, James Harden etc. Those guys have their teams in the playoffs every year. Combo guard > inefficient big man

Cousins has never bought into a team concept and has been a perennial loser. Quite frankly he's been a selfish player. I know it's not what anyone wants to hear and we think we can change his stripes, but that's just who he has been

Irving can pass. He's great at it. He's bad at running a team oriented offense. For someone with such a high usage rate, he plays iso most of the time inefficiently and doesn't get his teammates involved at all.

Except Irving had never been in the playoffs without Lebron.

I think having a true peer he respects on his team will reduce that selfishness. After the trade AD took 21.1 shots per 36 minutes while Cousins took 19.7. Cousins also got 1 tech in 17 games which prorates out to 5 a year. He was a changed man in a short period of time. Can he keep it up for an entire season is what the future of this team is relying on.
