We could use Julius coming off the bench, but the money isnt there. We need to address PG and SF.

I agree, point and small forward should are the positions most in need of an upgrade.

Where I think Julius fits on this is team is the first man off the bench and leading the second unit but is also apart of your lineup to close out games.

Zion is a more athletic version of Randle. Which would make him a perfect understudy. I question the fit longterm, especially if AD is apart of the equation. But as far as next year I think Randle offer tremendous value for this team.

why would he opt in to 9MM?
you don’t think he will get a better offer?

I do

I think his value exceeds 9MM on the open market. But, I also think he enjoys playing in New Orleans and if he were to make a move, next offseason would be a better time. I don't see many teams making Randle a priority this offseason outside of New Orleans.

Randle opting in if Davis decides to stay would not be a good outcome.
If Davis leaves then fine we can trade Randle at the deadline and he can eat up minutes while the trade pieces gel

I’m going to be shocked if Randle is here in March either way

Why do you believe it wouldn't work? Fit on the court? Or his contract?

I think we'll witness the evolution of Julius' game next year.

I believe he'll have more confidence in his perimeter shot and will receive the green light from Gentry which will translate into seeing less bully ball from Jules.

I respect your optimism

but Randles 9MM and his minutes can be better used elsewhere if we are surrounding Davis holiday and zion. If Davis bounces and Randle will come back for his option then bring it on. He’s a good player and I don’t think anyone disagrees

we need passers, shooters and smart defenders otherwise

I admit I do like Randle’s game.

Not sure if he fits in our future, but I have enjoyed watching him play.

Regardless, I’m excited for the upcoming season. The group that I purchase tickets with expanded our season tickets to all 41 games this coming season (not sure how many exactly we had last year, but it seemed like 24-27).

I’ll probably attend 14-18 in person. Good times ahead...

He already had the green light from Gentry, he took 2.7 3s per game last year compared to a previous career high of 0.9. Bully Ball is his biggest strength. It'd be stupid to take him away from his biggest strength and try to turn him into a perimeter player. That's just not his skill set. The Bully Ball mentality is fine if he's your 6th man. If he's not willing to be your 6th man you let him walk.

I don't think he'll totally abandon bully ball but I can see his game resembling that of a more athletic Boogie Cousins. This is what I believe to be his potential after watching how he began and finished last season.

The minute we won the lotto (Zion), Randle is gone. No spacing and not enough spacing. Randle is a ball dominant iso baller. We just won't have a spot for him.

Plus he will get paid.

If Randle opted in, I would think he immediately becomes trade bait because we have early Bird rights in him and he is on a decent deal from a team perspective.

He’s better off opting out and we are better off with him opting out.
