re: How can we get BI to unleash his dawg 24/7? (Assertiveness)

But Reaves is?
More of one than BI apparently, which is a complete insult to BI that he’s now in the “is he more of a dawg than Austin Reeves?” category.
A dude the lakers got for free is now better than someone people like you thought was a franchise player.

Update: The Starting 11th Man had the 11th most points on Team USA again and played 3 less minutes than bench player Josh Hart.
And Reaves was the leading scorer

I don’t disagree with you that’s it’s unfortunate BI is not proving to be “the guy” on that team.
This is BI himself:
"This is totally different than what I am used to," Ingram told Vardon. "The team is winning right now, so I can't be selfish thinking about myself. But it's a little frustrating right now for me, and I'm just trying to figure out ways I can be effective."
“But Team USA has far greater access to talent than NBA teams do, and a one-on-one scorer is suddenly less meaningful when his team has half a dozen more of them.” - from article
So yeah I get your point but also it’s starting to get bitchy from a standpoint that it seems you will drag this out all the way to the regular season and act like this is a “tell all” to for this upcoming season.
Austin Reeves is a fricking point guard. He quite literally has the ball and is running the offense. If you look at the statement above about “access to talent” it would make more sense why a PG would be doing a lot more in this play setting.

If you think an offseason exhibition tournament against mostly non nba players will hurt his mentality this year then idk what to tell you.
If anything it’s a humbling and selfishness experience. He will want to come back being “the man” while also having a new level of awareness for his teammates.

Shocking in a way that Austin Reeves is more of a dawg than BI, but it’s not really that shocking if you’ve been paying attention
It's pretty apparent you haven't paid attention to any Pelican games.

In terms of the guards, he is playing behind Patty Mills, Giddey, Dante Exum, some random Aussie named Jack White, some other random Aussie, Josh Green, and Thybulle
8th Guard on Team Australia lol
I thought White got cut. Is he still on the team?
White was gonna be the last one cut...but then Landale (starting center) had badly turned ankle in last warm-up game. So White was kept & Landale went home. And btw: For the OP, White is a lot of things...but a "guard" is NOT one of them.

Not every NBA coach out there is exactly enamored with BI's "style" of play given the present state of the NBA game. At some point, to become the player we all hope he becomes...BI is gonna have to improve his overall game... & change his game to the point that he is seen as somebody who makes his teammates better.
As much as some here like to say he does that already...I think that the present "situation" with the FIBA team...shows that some NBA coaches would disagree with BI being as valuable...as many on here believe him to be. JMO: I COULD be wrong.

That may be correct, but you can't deny that Anthony Edwards is trending in a very positive way right now into becoming a big star, and he already was trending that way towards the end of this regular season, and BI has looked like arse on the US team. Whatever the excuse about him being a 1 on 1 guy is bologna b/c the best us mens team player ever is Carmelo, who is a true 1 on 1 guy if there ever was one.

Brooooooooooo
Melo used his strength just as much as his footwork to get buckets. B.I. just ain't that dude. He can't back down most forwards in the league. It's not his fault Melo is just a stronger player.
Ingram is legit af, but he isn't prime Melo. Yet.

According to haters logic, Allen Iverson and Tim Duncan aren’t that good because the 2004 Olympic team under performed.
He’s on a team where he barely gets to handle the ball and gets less than 5 shots a game, can someone please explain how team USA is similar to an nba team?

that's not what i'm saying at all.
Someone used the excuse the 1 on 1 scorer is less meaningful in international play, and i'm just pointing out it worked perfectly fine for Melo.

Because Melo is a completely different player than Ingram.

Kerr, the coach with a ncaa and nba rings chose the team.
the coach runs this team.
imo
ingram is not #1 on an nba finals team.
zion may be.
based on team usa ingram isnt guy #2 on an nba champ.
defense is c.
as noted in clipped in copy ingram is not ball handler.
bI is good but not great.
when Jrue and Giannis won one Jrue was #2.
A defense.
took point as point was injured.
i dont see this great team construction.
Zion has still got ceiling.
i think today we see ingram ceiling which is member of team USA.
tm3 and herb are both learning.
cj is older.
val is needed vs the other huge thumpers.
there is no mighty paint defender.
im hoping tm3 and herb are much improved.
the squad isnt so close that you just gotta roll dice to get a guard.
you may need the paint defender bad enough to pay too much.

Uhhh what college team did Kerr coach? What are you taking about?
Larry Brown was the 2004 team USA coach. Larry Brown won an ncaa title and an nba title. Steve Kerr never coached a college team and never won an ncaa title as a player.
My post was explained that how you play on team USA has 0 correlation with what you do in the nba. I’m really not understanding what you’re trying to say.

i see how i might have confused you.
"coach" in my post is his role now. hence picking the guys. there were no try outs. guys were invited.
