I like Smith, but Millsap is a much better player.

Millsap is an idealized Sullinger or a better Carl Landry. He's at a great price for his production, but only has one year left and will be looking for a big pay out. Not sure I see the logic with this potential trade.

Not a bad deal. Millsap is only 27 and has had PER's of around 20.00 the past two seasons. Offensively a good fit. Much like Sullinger.
If Burks is included then I really like it.

So you want to trade the 10th pick for the 47th pick, a SG who had an unimpressive rookie season and would sit behind Gordon, and a soon to be 4th or 5th PF on the roster?

This Milsaps rumor is bullshite IMO.
I'd just as soon keep the #10 pick and pay Landry market value to stay for a few more years rather than blow it on Milshorts.

never said I wanted to do it. I would rather take the gamble on Waiters, Lillard or Rivers.
But if they are looking to move the pick then they could do a lot worse than a starting PF who has a PER average of around 20.00 the past two seasons and a 20 year old SG/SF with upside.

wait...what?
he'd be our 2nd 4, and i bet we'd play davis and milsap a lot. milsap's great outside shooting would complem ent davis

i think he meant by adding Millsap we'd now have a 4th or 5th PF on the roster. not be the 4th or 5th PF.

Sure you could do worse, but Millsap is going to demand a big contract next year which we won't want to pay. No reason to pay a PF a $9-10m a year contract when we're drafting a guy who we expect to eventually be the starter at a much cheaper price. The only way I'd do it is if Millsap would help us contend for a championship next year, which he obviously won't.

oh ok, i misread that
this hate for millsap is unreal
and i think davis is going to end up at the 5, so we'll need a legit 4

This is what I meant. We have plenty of serviceable 4s already with Smiht, Ayon, and Landry, and drafting Davis adds another. We won't have a big need at PF so there's no reason to trade so far down out of the top 10 to acquire another one.

doubtful he'll actually receive one, though
and if we get a good veteran, he's going to need to be paid. i will never understand why this board is so obsessed with not acquiring proven talent for cheap

smith is ok at best
ayon may be a good hustle guy
davis likely is a 5

Precisely my thoughts.

b/c they want to try and follow what OKC did through the draft. That shite ain't happening too often.

I think his game best fits at the 5 but I think he has to start out at the 4 until he bulks up. He would already be a short 5 at 6'10, although his wingspan would make up for it, but he's way too skinny to play there right now. I think if he adds a good bit of weight and muscle in the next year or two then he can be moved to the 5.

The 10th pick is a lot to give up if you aren't significantly upgrading your team. People need to lay off wanting a trade for the sake of making moves.

I wont even give him that. Not until he plays well in a post season game on the road.

and at the very least will play the 5 in crunch/winning time.

the 10th pick isn't really that valuable
we'll probably be able to buy one in the 20s if benson isn't cheap, anyway

This, I'm not opposed to trades, but I'm opposed to most of the trades I'm seeing suggested here.

History suggest it is way more valuable than one in the 20s.
