If Davis was 7 feet tall and more bulky then I'd love to trade for Millsap.

1. this isn't 1995 anymore

2. 2013 isn't the last year the hornets will exist with Davis (and possibly Millsap)

How much better do you really believe Millsap is than Landry?

He is a good bit better than Landry and a little younger as well.

So why not resign Carl Landry and keep the #10 pick?

millsap can start. landry can't. you're talking about 2 entirely different levels of player here

if landry wants to stick around for $3-4M per then fine. if not he's overpaid

a good bit. landry can't even fricking rebound worth a shite. his defense is horrible (compared to mediocre for millsap). and millsap is a lot better at shooting midrange jumpers and playing the pick and roll

Would we be able to afford Millsap after this season with Gordon's new contract? I think someone that can afford it would be willing to give Millsap a $9m contract.

if we can't then we need to just pack it up as a franchise b/c we'll never sniff a title

Meh, IMO Millsap is somewhere in between. He isn't as good as they think he is, but better than you do. Not worth the 10th pick, given what we already have.

Yeah but that's pretty much it.

We'd be strapped and would have no real PG of the future and no real 3 of the future.

Our "big 3" would be Gordon (great if healthy), AD (great), and Millsap (good). I don't know if they can run with OKC or MIA in 2 or 3 years though...

This is silly.

Paul Millsap is a really good player.

Even the Millsap fanboys have to admit that Gordon/Gay/Davis is much more dynamic and compelling than Gordon/Millsap/Davis. I think the latter is more likely to reach a WCF than the Former.

Well thinking about it now, I'd like to have Millsap if we can at least get rid of Okafor after this year. Reports said Davis already gained 15 lbs of muscle this offseason, so I think he could bulk up to the size of a 5 for at least the season after this one. If we amnesty Okafor or have him play for a year and then try to trade him based on his production, then we should be able to pay Millsap a decent contract to play the 4 with Davis and I guess Smiht at the 5.

Good point. frick it, let's just pay out our arse for players that are good but not great, and don't improve the team dramatically.

do you think we're going to become major players in free agency...in 2 years when we have cap room (and basically only davis, aminu, the #10 pick, and gordon)?

It doesn't even really matter. We're going to have to overpay to keep him and he isn't a player we really need. It makes no sense to give up the 10th pick for him and tie up so much money.
