Have to turn back end roster spots into some scoring off the bench

Guys like Temple, Kira, etc. need to be turned into some offensive production. This team was getting by because of Zion and some elevated play from Jose and Naji.
CJ’s play hasn’t been great and JV has been up-and-down. You just can’t consistently score with as many non-threats as the Pelicans have in the rotation.
Outside of CJ/BI, only one guy is capable of getting hot and actually being someone the opposing team accounts for and that’s Trey.
As much as it sucks, you’re still a work in progress.

We could give up picks but for who or what?

They account for the salary in any trade. The actual asset is the pick. You can’t just keep adding 20 year olds who need to develop at this juncture.
Guys like Joe Harris, Luke Kennard, and even somebody like Jordan Clarkson.
Whether it’s a guy like Harris/Kennard or a volume guy like Clarkson, you need someone to take the pressure off of your main guys. Trey isn’t that guy yet and you can’t just have one guy because he goes into the starting lineup if any of your three outside of CJ/JV are out.

Clarkson is a net negative, and the exact opposite of the type of player we could use imo. I know we aren't healthy often but you have to build this roster with that assumption. There's no place for Clarkson on this team, nor do I want an inefficient chucker any way, he doesn't play a winning style of basketball, he won't help a team that doesn't play winning basketball. That's not getting into adding Clarkson almost certainly takes us into the luxury tax, and he is not the guy to dip into the tax for, gotta dream bigger if we're doing that with a likely 1 year shot at going into the tax.

You really don’t think a Kennard, who is shooting almost 50% from outside and went 16/5/5 tonight from the bench for the Grizz on 75% from the floor would’ve helped knock the Warriors out of that stupid box and 1 they played against BI for most of the second half?

Those dudes rarely come off the bench.

Cj/bi are the only guys who shot under 50% tonight

gee man. he just hit 10 for 11 from three for 30 points.
you get anything remotely like that just once per playoff series you get a laugher in the midst of tension.
and you put him on the floor with the game on the line he gets attention.
exactly what Ingram needed.

I would like Kennard we need more shooters for spacing so BI and CJ can work and still need an athletic big for rebounding and shot blocking

Those are the guys we have under contract for next year on moveable salaries.
Richardson is a free agent, Hayes is a free agent, and that leaves JV and Nance as the only other traceable contracts.
You upgrade Temple/Kira and it moves Naji/Dyson into lesser roles. They both cannot play because of how little offense they provide.
And if you think because guys went 3/6 off the bench that they’re an actual threat on offense, you’re a fool. They don’t guard those guys at all and those guys do nothing to help open up the game for BI/CJ/Zion.

We cannot let JR go. He's a reliable shooter and solid defender. Naji 100% needs to go, he's too redundant with herb and dyson.

In order to evaluate our total talent, you have to look at every salaried player on the roster. Healthy or not, they take up part of the salary cap and are part of our collective talent. There is a max salary and a max number of players you can roster.
Having said that, we play the following players significant minutes:
-CJ McCollum
-Brandon Ingram
-Zion Williamson
-Herb Jones
-Jonas Valanciunas
-Trey Murphy III
-Jose Alvarado
-Larry Nance Jr
-Naji Marshall
-Dyson Daniels
-Josh Richardson
If fully healthy, where do we find minutes for anyone else?

We roster 3 players who consistently average 20ppg+ and another2 who consistently average 14/15ppg, with Trey having the potential for a 20ppg scorer. Plus Every other player we play sans Dyson averages double figures per 36 mintues.

You can't talk about adding salary then completely disregard our single greatest player because he's hurt. How many championships do the Cavs make without Lebron?
We averaged 118PPG as a team in December, a month during which BI never saw the court and Zion missed 6 games. Health is our problem, same as it always was

Naji and someone else has to go. Naji is way too redundant. JR has to be brought back next year because he is a reliable defender and shooter. Dyson must work all summer on shooting or else he will be unplayable. Jonas is cooked but its not like centers who shoot 3s and protect the rim grow on trees so idk where we would find one. I highly doubt turner gets moved after signing an extension.

A skill set like Kennard is needed but not at the cost of his contract. Sure, he would be extremely useful this season if you want to go as far as possible during this season's playoff run but if you look at the next couple of seasons, it's probably not the best idea for the big picture if they plan to make splash moves this offseason.
They can draft a high end shooter in the draft and go after a needle moving big and that would be more ideal.
At the end of the day, we go as far as Zion takes us and it's not going to be far this year due to the injuries and limited amount of time thay the starting lineup played together.

Honest question, how many points do think most NBA teams are getting from at the end of the bench?
I promise you it's not as high as you think.

If we could ship Naji along with some scraps and 2nds for a capable shooting big man I would be about it. I wouldn't want to give up any real assets for that unless it's a Jonas or better level player though. I also think Dyson has potential and would rather not move him just yet.
In terms of the playoffs though, we're only going to play like 8 guys. If those are CJ, BI, Zion, Jonas, Herb, Trey, Nance and Jose then I think that is solid. Another true big would be nice, but just being healthy would be better

You can’t play two of Daniels, Naji, and JRich if he comes back.
With that lineup, your bench consists of Murphy plus
Alvarado, Naji, Dyson, and Nance. Alvarado shoots 41/34, Naji 44/31, Dyson 41/30, and Nance averages .7 3’s a game. That is not good enough offensive output. Naji is a spot player and Dyson still needs time to develop his offensive game.
You have to have better offensive options off of the bench. Especially when your two best players on offense cannot stay healthy for a full season, and barely half a season.

Spot on. Move naji and replace his minutes with a shooter in the draft, hopefully gradey dick. Re-sign Richardson because we cant be letting shooting and defense walk out the door. Use future picks to turn jonas into a competent big. Pray to god Dyson isnt a bust because that would be 2 blown #8 picks by griff. Thats my ideal offseason. If Zion cant stay healthy next year blow the whole damn thing up

It’s not just the points. It’s what they do to a defense and whether they have to be accounted for. None of those guys have to be accounted for and you saw it last night and numerous nights throughout the year when the offense disappears.
If they can’t play in transition and get run outs they aren’t scoring.

JRich does not belong with those other. He is a good shooter(Career 37%, 39% as a pel), he should absolutely be brought back. Naji is the odd man out. Replace his minutes with a shooter through the draft
