re: Has reality set in that we did virtually nothing this offseason?

quote:having only two legit shooters on a team isn’t enough in this league. Most quality teams have 4-5 respectable perimeter shooters . Trey could be healthy and I’d still be saying the same thing. We HAVE to get attempts up this year. No more 20-28 3 attempts a game. BI has to shoot like he did his first two years here
I mean fa was basically done when Trey got hurt. That's not on the front office for not foreseeing that.

this franchise has accepted mediocrity it is what it is

I don't think Portland was ever going to send him our way, especially with how awkward it would have been to bring back CJ, even if he would be rerouted.
I'm confident that was just never a possibility.

We just had no one in the rotation that needed to be replaced.
c'mon man
only 1 team in the league can say this, and that's Denver

What moves could we have made that would change that we needed to get healthy this year?
Remember that i also said i think the plan all along was for us to make our big move at the trade deadline, not this offseason, and i'm fine with that.
Still doesn't change the fact that we lost Richardson, Temple, Hayes and Billy, still have a worthless Kira, and replaced them with a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick from last year, and Cody Zeller, none of which will help this team this year. And i understand that none of that really matters at all in how this team will do this season b/c no one i just mentioned matters to this team, with the exception of the 1st round pick.
And again, i'm ok with this for now, b/c i expect a move in Jan/Feb.

It’ll be interesting what we do during trade deadline. If we’re really competitive, Gayle may let us go above luxury tax to upgrade the team. But if we’re at .500 and not that great, Griffin will have to make a move to dump someone to get under the tax. This team honestly has a couple months to show if they’re worth it- which a month of that will be without Trey.

Adding Cody Zeller is an upgrade from Hayes and a wash from losing Billy. You are being naive.
stop. just stop. Cody Zeller is equivalent to Garrett Temple. He's a coach. He's not playing on this team, and if he does, it's b/c too many guys are hurt.

What the frick do you want man? Not trying to be a dick but realistically tell me what moves you make for us to be “better” than having our current team playing 82 games?
again, i said that my expectation is to make a move at the trade deadline, not make any big moves this offseason.
I'm not saying we should have done anything different this offseason. We couldn't do anything this offseason b/c our GM is a dumbass that used a 1st round pick and 4 2nd round picks to sign a free agent 2 years ago and then dump him, while also letting go of a young RFA and getting back two worthless salaries.
If we had some 2nd round picks, or if Kira had any value, then we actually could have done something this offseason, but we don't have those picks, and Kira is negative value.
And again, that doesn't change the fact that we didn't do anything this offseason. I"m not saying we had to, just that we didn't do anything.

It's fine if Cody Zeller plays 10-12 minutes a night in certain matchups.
It's not fine if Temple is playing 10-12 minutes a night. It's never fine for Temple to be playing any non garbage time minutes

The fact we’re arguing about Cody Zeller making an impact- kind of shows you the offseason we’ve had lol
Posted on 9/28/23 at 1:09 pm to Pels_Yaz
No one is arguing that. We know his “impact”. More than Hayes and the same as Billy.
Y’all are just being dramatic

Ohh yeahhh because a few 2nds and Kira’s 5 mil contract could get us this all star sharpshooter you are talking about lolol
Bruh you are in LaLa land

You literally are discussing how Zeller can be beneficial to this team in reference to another poster saying we did nothing this offseason. Im not being dramatic- thats what your discussing. Frankly, I would have agreed with the poster that we did nothing of substantial value this offseason that will significantly help this team.

You know what would have been better than Cody Zeller playing 10-12 minutes a night?
Oscar Tshiebwe playing 10-12 minutes a night in whatever crazy scenario you think Cody Zeller might be playing in.
You know why?
b/c there is literally no value whatsoever in Cody Zeller on this team, and he sucks. I will say that he is someone who i know will work hard when he does play, so i give him credit for that, but he's just not a good basketball player.
Tshiebwe was undrafted. He might suck too. But you know what. Maybe he doesn't suck, and maybe he actually has some value to us in the future. That value actually coming to fruition may be a low probability, but the probability of Zeller providing value is 0%.
what's more concerning about this team other than the lack of shooting, is the fact that Cody Zeller is our 4th big after Zion/JV/Nance, and a 2nd round pick that hasn't played an NBA minute is our 5th big.

Zeller is more beneficial than Hayes. And has the same value as Billy. Y’all are being dramatic about that move being a “waste” or that we could have done better. Were you there when we talked about all the centers going to teams NOT named us?
The only way to help our team is to be healthy. Other than that your “help” would be trading Zion/ BI to do it…
Is that really “helpful” considering what the reward could be with them actually healthy?

“We replaced an unplayable 15th player (Hayes) with a playable 15th Zeller but I wanted Jokic so we failed and did nothing”
Yeah fricking dramatic.
Our roster 1-11 depth is already set. So yes unless we trade 1 of our actual players that are worth a shite then we weren’t making any movies this offseason.
Any one with half a brain could understand that

You ignore the fact history shows this team cant be healthy. So yes a solution would be to trade one of them. There comes a time when the risk outweighs the reward. Its highly unlikely that both these guys stay healthy during the season. I think whats frustrating is some fans act like or ignore both of their injury history. They both have not shown to stay healthy together for a prolonged period of time. Yet people on this board defend this front office by stating you cant do anything if they’re not healthy. You absolutely can its just not what people want to hear.
I honestly dont care about the Zeller move. The fact it was brought into a discussion of not doing anything this offseason was kind of silly. This is literally a guy who was out of the league last year and we’re discussing his minimal role on the team. Thats like the Suns fans when talking about offseason moves want to discuss how many minutes will Keon Johnson play? Like come on.

When did I say this?
a few 2nd round picks would get us out of the tax by getting rid of Kira's contract, if that's what we wanted to do this offseason. Not saying that's what we should or need to do.
But as i said, i expect a move to be made this trade deadline with it likely being JV/Kira on the way out.
If we had some 2nd's, then making a trade like Kira for Nik Richards would be easy to do, and ironically enough we traded away the 42nd pick 3 years ago for a 2024 2nd(that we no longer have), and if we wanted that 42nd pick today we would have to give up assets while including the 13th pick from that draft just to get him.
I fear, b/c we are in the tax and Kira has negative value, that we will have to make a trade at the deadline to unload JV or Nance with Kira, and we aren't going to get back equal value of JV or Nance unless we throw in a 1st round pick or two.
