re: Guillory: Worst kept secret in NBA is Gentry’s time...won’t last much longer

I don't think Kidd is as bad of a coach as Gentry. He's actually been alright at times. But his teams all seem to dramatically improve when he's gone.
And Kidd’s ego, off the court issues are huge negatives.
He’ll never live down the ice spill either.

Cosby's accusers were out there for many years and everyone just kind of ignored it, until Hannibal Burress did a bit about it that went viral. All of a sudden its everywhere and Cosby is in jail.
I remember trying to figure out how in the hell did some random comedian know and have all this dirt on Cosby that no one else knew about. Turns out, it was always out there, but his bit just randomly blew up for reasons I'm still not sure of.

It was right in the middle of the MeToo stuff, and people already were hating on Cosby for all of his talk about the black community.
"right" place, right time.

The domestic abuse situation with him is awful. I've had a number of people bring this up to me but I don't see this derailing him for any job. None of this is meant to minimize it. It happened in 2001 while he was a player. He's been hired twice as a head coach since and interviewed for the Knicks job. It wasn't a massive story then, and while some may talk about it on Twitter, and I bet you'd see one article on it, I don't see it being an issue. Whether it should or not is a different story.

So let's not get ahead of ourselves on anything with regards to all of this just yet. But I'm posting/talking/tweeting for a reason. But, no, right now I wouldn't say it's likely they'll hire him. Far, far from that.
I also just said I'm not a fan. I not out on him as much as most people are. His relationship with Giannis at least says something about him.
Re the domestic violence stuff. Look, it SHOULD keep him out of the running for any job. And I get when he was hired times were different. But he just interviewed with the Knicks and reportedly was somewhat close to that job. He didn't get it, but the domestic violence stuff is not the reason why. In some hypothetical world, I just don't see it being different here.

Just listened to your pod. I hear you.
I hope he’s just not a real candidate when the time comes.
I’m hoping Griffin has a little more thought and Nuance to this.

I would rather Lue than Kidd. Nothing about him makes me intrigued.

Another college coach I’d consider is Chris beard

Given that the coaching hires are going to be so late in the year, I don’t think you’re going to see any college coaches hired as NBA HCs. Could be wrong.

It’s alarming that Atkinson isn’t at the top of the list.
I know iconic players (and I mean iconic as to how younger players see the older established guys like Kyrie and Durant) can sink a coach, but one would think Langdon would’ve had a decent relationship.

We don't have a clue if he is or isn't, or who is on the list.
And we won't until it leaks who we are actually interviewing.
Expect a lot of smoke about tons of candidates before then.

Since Trajan was the assistant GM with the Nets he should be able to keep any conversations he has with them about getting permission to talk to Kenny quiet.
If we ask the Lakers for permission to talk to Jason Kidd, let's just say Pels and Lakers aren't in each others circle of trust.

They fired Kenny. Why would we need permission?
Did he sign some kind of Non Compete when he was given his buyout?

It would be as a courtesy to Kidd and Kidd's agent IMO, so I wouldnt be mad if it happened.
But if he got hired.....wow. Itd be bad.

I have a fuzzy memory of other coaches getting hired with years left on their original contract and that letting the original team off the hook for some of that. Maybe I'm mixing sports though.

Its possible his buyout has an offset if he is hired. That happens.
But I don't think we need to ask permission to speak to him.
