He has been here before and chose Milwaukee. Wouldn't surprise me if he finally comes home. I went to school with him, dude loves it here and has a lot of family.

Does it really matter? There's plenty of minutes for both and if there's quality play at the 4 and 5 amongst 3 bigs, Davis will rarely need to play those 40 minutes games where we can't sit him because of the trash behind him.

Wow, I wanna say I called that but feel like it was a pretty easy/ obvious call. Gotta push hard for both of those points, especially a starting spot.
Even if Monroe doesn’t re-sign he needs to understand a starting position next to AD would only help him and his next contract.
AD even said he would play the 5.
Get it done Demps.

Would like Monroe. There have been some rumblings of Brook Lopez potentially getting bought out. I would much prefer Lopez, but we cannot wait to see if he becomes available.

I like both players. Either one would definitely make a huge difference for AD rather than Asik/Ajinca.
If I’m a general manager and trying to sign a big man who was recently bought out it’s pretty simple IMO. It can either be a 4 or a 5, or somebody that can play both positions because that’s what AD does best.
Not that hard to convince a big who was bought out to come here and play next to Anthony fricking Davis. We have a starting spot wide open whether it’s a PF or a C.

Any other potential trade partners outside of Chicago, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Memphis, L.A.?

Charlotte. Orlando. Sacto. Maybe NYK
Dell is giving up best pick available. With lottery potential.
I like his hardball.
And I understand it. It might be his last shot as a GM.

“There is strong early, mutual interest between the Pelican and Greg Monroe, source tells @YahooSports. Monroe is a New Orleans native and Pels can offer significant playing time with Cousins out.”

If we get a trade done where we shed salary, we can also offer him a little bit more than most other teams with the Anjica DPE.

After you prorate for what's left of the season it you're talking about a $500kish difference. Money is rarely the primary motivator for guys that get bought out, it's usually opportunity. Boston could probably give him 10 more chances to impact a game in the playoffs than the Pels. That's big, but it'd be off the bench. Honestly that might be the best gig for him because there's less chance to see him getting abused by Houston or Golden State. But if he sees himself as still a starter in this league, the Pels present the best opportunity. That's on top of the hometown factor.

Is there cap room for that? I am beyond ignorant when it comes to nba salary cap restrictions.

The New Orleans Pelicans have gathered significant momentum in pursuit of impending free-agent center Greg Monroe, league sources told ESPN.
New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry spoke to Monroe in the aftermath of his contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns late Wednesday night, and New Orleans will continue to make an aggressive push to sign Monroe, league sources said.
The Pelicans' ability to offer Monroe the chance at a starting job -- in his childhood hometown -- is making for a compelling case with Monroe, league sources said.
