As James stood above the crowd in a custom Waraire Boswell tuxedo, featuring a flashy green paisley print jacket, another All-Star—a first-timer—watched in the distance, also wearing green.

The green was confined to Anthony Davis' pants, but the similarities stretched beyond that: Same freakishly athletic DNA. Same multi-skilled prowess. Just in different ways on the court.

It was then that I realized it's only a matter of time before this young man will have his own GQ cover party and become the league's "Next Big Thing," to quote the slogan from James' Samsung Galaxy commercials.

...But Davis' biggest weakness offensively is scoring on the low block—like it was for James earlier in his career.

Can you imagine when that changes for Davis, who's planning an enhanced low-post and muscle-building program this summer with Daniel? While the scout said "he's going to be a pure beast," Gordon went a step further to further illustrate the still untapped potential of already one of the best young players in the league.

"When he gets that post game down, he'll be unstoppable," Gordon said.

It's a long article but worth the read. Yes it's Bleacher Report but it's from one of the actual writers they hired to try and become more legit.

Now, while Davis is still maintaining his impact in the paint and transition—his 1.527 points per breakaway with a minimum of 90 plays is the league's best mark—he's made leaps and bounds in other offensive areas.

that's crazy. i wonder how many other big men are even in the top 10

Great link. Thanks for posting.

Davis has improved his jump shot with a helpful eye from coach Monty Williams, who noticed that two mechanical issues had to be slighted adjusted: the point of release and how the ball left his hands.

Fire Mon- wait, what?

As for game planning, Davis said he doesn't prepare for individual matchups

That's one of the reason's I'm not going to freak out if Monty gets another year. AD's development is the most important thing by a wide margin right now and he seems to be developing quite well under Monty.

By the time he reaches his full potential, unfortunately I believe he'll be playing on another team. I have absolutely no confidence in Dell's ability to surround him with the talent needed to contend for a title and keep him here in New Orleans.

If Demps fails at team building, he will be fired before AD even considers leaving.

AD will start a new 5 year extension in 2016-2017. For smooth sailing to occur things need to be headed in the right direction by the 2019-20 season. You can still salvage things after that, but you better be close.

This is the 2013-14 season so:

14
15
16
17
18
19

This team has between 5-6 years to get right. Can we at least wait a few years to start worrying?

What makes you think he'll want to sign a new 5-year extension if we are still a 30 win team at that time in 2016?

as long as AD is healthy, this team will win at least 40 games every year beginning next year. he's that good.

Math.

You have 2 choices to make.

Choice A is 1 year $9 million, which if you survive uninjured someone will give you somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 years $60 million. So a total 5 years, $69 million, with the first year you take on the risk of career threatening injury keeping the 4/$60 from ever coming.

Choice B is 5 years at roughly $95 million, and if you get injured in year 1 you still collect all $95 million.

This should be posted in every single thread for the rest of the year so people will stop acting like AD's already gone.

Dealing Dell is what makes me think this. We have absolutely no cap space to make moves to attract fee agents. When can't trade anyone that we have b/c they either suck and teams don't want them or their contract is so shitty no team want to take it over it. We have 0 draft picks this year to bring in some new talent. The team's chemistry really isn't all that great. We have 3 ball dominate guards who needs the ball in their hands to be effective, and one of those guards can't shoot worth a damn outside of the paint (Reke), we have a hole at Center and a hole at SF.

I can go on and on, but tell me do you think with all these deficiencies we'll be better than a .500 team in the West by 2016?
