Was fears going up against dash Daniels and struggling? Uh oh

We played against a team who was in mid season form and played us real physical. I think for a kid like Fears, you're going to see a lot of ups and downs like today when he gets on the floor. His shot did not fall at all regardless of where he shot it. And he started to chucked at the end of game which needs to be reeled in. I don't mind him missing shots... especially preseason but he has to know better than taking 4 straight 3s when his shots isn't falling. He needs to keep attacking the rim and try get to the line or set up his guys using rim presssure. Getting assists and drawing fouls will be bigger than scoring points in year 1 for the kid.

Fears has been a bad shooter since age 14. I don't think this is going away unfortunately. Some guys just can't shoot.

Fears might end up in the G league with these shooting stats

Not to derail, but this is quite the unfortunate thumbnail for Willie.

Well he's about to turn 19, so he's not a finished product, from a technical standpoint and likely a physical standpoint as well.
I literally couldn't shoot to save my life throughout high school, got to college and everything started changing and became an elite shooter. It's without a doubt possible for him to improve as a shooter.
Kid shot 85% from the line in college. With him it's likely a lot more about taking smarter shots and not just hoisting up 3's like you're Steph Curry. Once he gets the AAU out of him and starts playing smarter and shooting better shots, I think he'll be alright.

Poole/Trey/Zion actions are going to be nasty. The spacing is already showing up with the dynamic shooting, ball handing, and on ball creation from both Poole and Trey to keep defenders honest.
I think someone posted that we were running some unstoppable golden state signature split actions with Looney, Poole, and Trey. That's crazy because coming from a Willie Green coached team, that seems unthinkable.

Green was an assistant coach on 2 GS championship teams..

quote:Fears does not seem to want to play team ball as a PG. Today and in SL, all he did was want to chuck up bad shots. He does not seem to realize he cannot shoot. He needs to be reeled in and get him to play within the team.

The internet says this is 22. But nothing listed for Direct TV yet.
Also, I think I will like Poole on this team as long as he doesn't play hero ball.

I know they saw don’t read too much into exhibition games played in Australia, but the difference in Zion is startling.
He looks ready to actually run point Zion for 20 minutes a game and play with effort on both for 35 a game.

Looked solid. Showed some pump fake and drive ability. Good defender but obviously not close to Herb. Think he showed more dribbling ability than I thought he did. Hit a nice mid range fadeaway

I saw some people talking about this. He got bigger during his year off. He's PF size now. I think he'll back up Zion. So we might need more wing depth, unless Peavy or someone else emerges..

Yeah, with Trey also adding muscle, I'm curious to see how often Zion ends up matched up defending opposing SFs. My guess is a lot, especially if Karlo is deserving of regular rotation minutes at PF.
