Let’s not dismiss that Murphy is coming back from a knee injury. The same one that Zion had and missed 13 weeks with and came back 40 pounds overweight.

I think it’s a bit unfair to expect off the dribble prowess from Trey Murphy right now. If he still looks hesitant in 1-2 months, then sure it’s fair to speculate. But he’s just getting back in the fold right now in an impossible position with no point guards or Zion.

So I’ll preface this by saying I didn’t watch a second of the game, but it looks like we got a legitimate extra rotation player with Brandon Boston. Get this team healthy and we’re deeper than we thought.

Trey was out with a hamstring, not a knee injury.

And yes he’ll be much better when other guys are back. Trey isn’t a star player. He relies on other good players

Trey also missed all of training camp. I think we could give him a couple of weeks...

Good little win, team is still making it hard on themselves with bad ballhandling. Pels have to maximize possessions when they're under-manned and just can't give away shot attempts. On the bright side, Boston is a keeper and I actually like what Pels are getting from Jemmison in terms of much needed physicality.

My bad, I mixed up his last offseasons injury with this one. It’s tough with this franchise bc all these dude’s are hurt every year. I still think my overall point was valid. We shouldn’t expect him to be an off the dribble force in the first 3 games of him being back from a lower body injury.

That doesn't explain passing up fairly open 3s so the d-leaguers can work.

I think Trey can be really good, but he can also be really complacent. It's the same issues we saw in the playoffs. He seems to have lost the swagger that made him dangerous.

That will come back. It took Trey a while last season to get back in the groove after his injury.

Trey's game is similar to that of Lauri Markkanen in that he is deadly on the pass and not so much on the dribble. Trey will really look better once Dejounte is back. Heck, he'll even look better once CJ is back. But Trey's max value comes with Zion on the court, collapsing the defense and opening things up.
