@TheFrankIsola
The Knicks held a private workout with Kristaps the day before the NBA Draft. Today, point guard Darius Garland had a private workout with the Knicks.

That’s probably the best case scenario for the Pelicans to keep their pick.

I think there may be something to it.

They work out Garland, and really like him.

So then they reach out to us and see if we want to move up to get RJ, but I don't think Griffin would fall for that.

If the Knicks take Garland at 3 I'm on the phone with Cleveland, Phoenix, and Chicago immediately trying to move back and get something extra.

Man I wish Washington was willing to part with Beal.

i have a very good feeling they will be on the phone with all 3 no matter who is picked at #3, Barrett or Garland... both have their fair share of teams that really want them, and we aren't in a position where we'd have to take either one, thanks to Ball and Ingram, though both would be nice to have

More like you draft him and laugh at the Knicks for allowing you to have a top 3 prospect in a 3 man draft.

Yep. Here's a Knicks-centric article about what they could get if they trade RJ Barrett. It's BR but writer Jonathan Wasserman is legit. There are options relevant to what the the Pels might consider that are very intriguing if remotely possible.

Sadly I think the NYK are this incompetent that they would believe this to work

This isn't a 3 man draft. Forget that narrative.

I think Barrett will have a fine career, but I don't think he will ever take that next step. Think Demar Derozan.

I would feel better moving back, taking a guy that COULD make that next step, and getting more assets to do so.

Why is the picture for that article one of RJ looking like he lost his dribble?

As others have said I believe this is a last-minute narrative for the Knicks -- whose off-season has otherwise been unspectacular -- to see if they can hook any fish to give them excessive assets to trade into the #3.

Griffin is doing the same with the #4. If you believe the reports there are like six or so teams interested in Garland but, again, this could be Griffin pushing that narrative to see what he can get.

Been listening to NBA radio today. The interest in Garland around the league is real.

I do as well. He's being undervalued for guys with better physical profiles, but he has more game imo.

I'm sure there is interest, but media will gin things up in the interest of having a story. Also they are most likely getting the info from the Pelicans because who else would be in better position to know who is interested in Garland? It's a smart move by Griffin but I believe he is more likely to hold on to the pick and take Garland unless some crazy deal comes through the day of the draft.

But if you look at various teams' forums/reddits you'll see they're not willing to part with stuff most fans here would want (Turner, etc.) Some of the proposed offers on T-Wolves forums I've seen have been laughable ("what if they took Wiggins!")

So if you think we could get a Demar Derozan at 4, why in the world would you want to trade the pick?

I believe multiple NBA talent evaluators have Garland listed as the number 2 prospect in this draft....I think the Knicks are legitimately interested in him.

Also, they may have some confidence that KD is going to go to the Knicks in FA. If he does, Garland is a better fit with him than RJ would be.

I don't know if he ever even becomes as good as Derozan, that's just a comparison I used. He screams good scorer on average to below average teams to me.

But to answer your question, if I could get say Coby White (who I think can be a dynamic scorer and playmaker on the offensive end, then a hound on the defensive end) AND get something else in return, I would absolutely do that.
