Does he get credit for the development of Giannis

He is the one that pushed Giannis into a Point Forward role. The bottom line with Kidd is that he has enough baggage so that at best he's a reclamation project. There are too many good candidates on the market to take that kind of risk. If you think he could help Zion become like Giannis, hire him as an assistant, I don't think anyone else is hiring him as head coach.

Exactly dude might get a rehab job with a totally rebuilding team, but he shouldn't get one with our positives.

He has some baggage.

Positives:
1. Can turn a cup and some ice into free timeouts
2. Not Mark Jackson

He is honestly the one rumored hire I would legitimately melt over.

We could probably rehire Alvin Gentry to a 10 year guaranteed contract and I would melt less than this tbh.

What are the positives with Kidd here?

Does he get credit for the development of Giannis, Middleton, and Brogdon? Some shitty guards like MCW did pretty well under him. His coaching didn’t seem to produce great results but it seems like he has some ability to develop young players.

I think that’s an argument for why he would be better suited as an assistant. A head coach is the one that needs to put together a holistic organizational structure and strategy from players, staff, and leadership, then get the optimal execution out of it to produce wins over losses and build the team forward. Kidd really failed at that core responsibility. He oversaw some guys develop, but is that on him or assistants? And if it is on him than it seems his core competency is better suited around developing guard talent, so let him do that.

1. It's Fletcher so lol
2. This source "thinks"

This is complete speculation. Nothing to see. Move along.

Agreed, just venting about how much I would absolutely despise that move and why. Since it refused to go away, and I think there is probably some “there” there. Though I think the fact it was so quickly reported we reached out to Doc suggests we aren’t sold on Kidd, or Lue, or any other of the worst case scenarios. That if it’s not a Doc, this will be a prolonged and arduous process is my guess.

Will you join me in the aforementioned melting?

That's a formal invite.

With the overprotection of Zion, the under utilization of Jrue/BI's minutes in the Bubble when we had a legit chance to make the playoffs, throw in a Jason Kidd hire, and I'll be all the way out on Griff.

Oh yeah. It might not be quite as bad as my Gentry melt but it’ll be up there.

Feel free to join my impending all caps melt thread if it does happen.

By the way, who the frick does Fletcher "know" as his source? Because if he's just milking his ticket rep for info like the rest of us....

He’s had some real minor info in the past. Real minor.

It might be a low level FO person or someone in the Saints org that has minor Pels info.

I doubt he has enough relevant info to know we are going to hire Kidd.

I'm not worried about this in the least bit.
I refuse to believe this is even remotely believable. Just like the Mark Jackson being the 2nd favorite odds to get the job. It's so unbelievable i won't even waste my time thinking about it.

I'd like to know who his "trusted NBA source" is and why they wouldn't give him their random opinion.

You guys are reading too much into it. All the tweet said was a guy in the industry “thinks” where the names will land. It’s an opinion NOT some kind of inside information.

You’re right. I think most in here believe that too, just getting some practice melts in during the offseason or posting tongue-in-cheek. The pool of decent candidates is large enough, and the job is attractive enough that we’ll do much better than Kidd. I think we are/were actually interested in MDA and Doc, but they’ll pass. So I think it’s either going to be Atkinson or one of the up-and-coming assistants. The only retread (other than Atkinson) that I think is even remotely plausible is McMillian, and even he is unlikely. This Kidd/Jackson stuff is from people throwing stuff against the wall looking at betting lines (which are more of a reflection of public perception than based on actual info) and agents leaking out info to try and drum up interest in their clients.

Remember that we had one of the most popular and followed players mysteriously miss over ten days before the bubble during the most important stretch of the season at the height of NBA frenzy, and the reasons still have not leaked out. Griffin clearly runs a tight ship, and any “info” is agent posturing and twitter speculation.
