Upvote: Pels make the playoffs, swept by Lakers, Gentry returns next season.

Downvote: Pels miss the playoff, Gentry fired.

Pels miss Playoff and they give Gentry another chance because Zion was hurt

Not happy about this choice but it is going to happen

Let's think logically. If Gentry was getting fired this year it would of happen already and/or Gentry will do everything to make sure Zion plays so he can save his failing career

I agree that is the likely scenario as well. Just wanted to see what Pels fans would want given those two scenarios. I think the team is capped out with Gentry as the coach. I'd take my chances with someone else.

When we hit the 3 lose mark he will go without a minute restriction. At that point we missed playoffs and since Zion is playing we will win or compete the rest and will be the "reason" why Gentry is still here

Making play offs doesn’t guarantee a coaches return. Look at Dwayne Casey. Monty Williams was let go after making playoffs here. Marc Jackson in gsw. I think we can make playoffs and still have change in the off season.
Only thing that I think holds change back is the shortened off season.

I'd rather lose out, Zion not play(if they are going to do this 3 minute burst shite then just don't play at all), get the 10th pick instead of 13th, and get Gentry the hell out of here. If the Grizz win, we'll be 4 back with 7 left to play just to make the 9th seed play in game, and that just ain't happening, and i'm a very optimistic person that doesn't like to give up until it's officially over. We have started like shite every single time under Gentry, and i'm sick and tired of it, and it seems this restart is no different.

Getting the 10th pick instead of 13th doesn't seem like a big deal, but if we can evaluate talent well, then it absolutely makes a big deal.

2019
10 - Reddish
11 - Cameron Johnson
12 - PJ Washington
13 - Herro
14 - Langford

2018
10 - Mikal Bridges
11 - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
12 - Miles Bridges
13 - Jerome Robinson
14 - Michael Porter Jr

2017
10 - Zach Collins
11 - Malik Monk
12 - Luke Kennard
13 - Donovan Mitchell
14 - Bam Adebayo

2016
10 - Thon Maker
11 - Domantas Sabonis
12 - Taurean Prince
13 - Georgios Papagiannis
14 - Denzel Valentine

2015
10 - Justice Winslow
11 - Myles Turner
12 - Trey Lyles
13 - Devin Booker
14 - Cameron Payne

2014
10 - Elfrid Payton
11 - McDermott
12 - Dario Saric
13 - Zach Lavine
14 - TJ Warren

2013
10 - McCollum
11 - Michael Carter WIlliams
12 - Steven Adams
13 - Kelly Olynyk
14 - Shabazz
15 - Giannis (only 15 worth mentioning in the last 7 drafts

There's always 1 really good player in that 5 pick range. I'd much rather be picking 10th and having the ability to target that talent first, as opposed to having to let it fall to us at 13 or 14, and for once in our history, i feel confident we can draft the right person.
You can actually make an argument that the 13th pick has been one of the best picks the last few years.

Do these 8 games even affect seeding if you don't make the playoffs?

I don't think they do, I think record at time of season ending is the only factor besides making the playoffs.

LINK

this came out yesterday and says that the final order won't be known until the these 8 games are played.

And i didn't realize you had to be within 4 games of the 8 seed to advance to the play in. I thought it was 1 game within. I guess that means we are still in contention, but i don't want to be. I want a new coach.

The only guy I want in this draft is Jalen Smith to shore up that front court.

* This is a crappy draft.

* We aren't going to win a title next season anyway, and the focus is going to be on the development of Zion, NAW, Hayes, and Didi. Can someone develop them better than Gentry's staff? A "win-at-all-costs" coach might be what we need to win a title, but he might not be the guy we need next season. There are good reasons for keeping Gentry one more season.

* Fun Bunch is correct that lottery seeding was frozen back at the suspension of play in March. Teams that don't make the playoffs have no incentive to lose.

* Teddy, your argument is undercut by the fact that, in at least four of the years that you posted, the #13 pick turned out to be a better player than the #10 pick.

Because we don't know who will be in the playoffs.

All other teams are unaffected. These wins don't count towards lottery slot UNLESS you make the playoffs.

every crappy draft has an allstar in the teens.

All that means is the teams picking before them weren't good evaluaters of talent. it's an anomaly that lucky number 13 keeps striking it rich recently.

I take it we are picking 13th then, unless we make the playoffs or someone beneath us makes it. I forgot that tidbit.

Are we picking 13th (provided we miss the playoffs) or is that determined by the lottery?

We are currently 12th, Sacramento is 13th. Sort of. We have one more loss than Sacramento. I believe the actual tie breaker will be a random drawing between the two teams.

We can obviously move into the top 5 in the lottery.

Obviously this changes if we get the 8 seed

Would it actually go to a tiebreak with an extra loss on our hands?

I BELIEVE its a random drawing not a tiebreaker, a coinflip essentially.
