As terrible as those years were….thanks Dell. You chased away AD who was no fun anyway and we turned it into the deepest NBA Team New Orleans has ever seen.

Also still can’t believe last year’s draft class, CJ McCollum, Jonas Valancunas, and Grand Theft Alvarado!! The only piece I’m unsure of now is Jaxson.

Can one really chase away someone who has no intention of staying?

Dell sucked but AD had his eyes on a bigger market because he thought the problem with him getting endorsements was NOLA and not AD. How many people are buying his douche flavored Ruffles now that he won a title with LeBron?

Demps roster mismanagement is not the suffering that changed our future.

Jazz assistant Dell Demps, who used to be the GM here in New Orleans, appeared to suffer some kind of leg injury while warming players up. Trainers looking at him now.

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has returned to the city after spending nearly two months in Portland rehabbing his injured foot away from the team, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

Demps comes back to New Orleans and suffers a freak injury. The next day we get the beginning of Zion's health and relationship with the Pels changing for the better. That's not a coincidence, some voodoo shite went down. A debt was paid, a curse was lifted, something like that.

Hell, Zion had more endorsements within minutes of being drafted than AD had in his entire career.

This ain’t the 90s when only guys like Michael Jordan and Shaq were pulling in endorsement money.

Demps caused his own suffering.

Bad trades, bad drafts, and overpaying free agents.

Was close with Holiday and Davis. Never identified that Holiday was a #3 option and AD was not a leader.

For as crazy as Griffin has seemed at times his drafts have been good to great and outside of Graham he made all the right decisions last offseason. Some were lucky because had Lowry or Paul said yes the Pelicans would be screwed.

Luck is preparedness meeting opportunity.

We didn’t get who we wanted to start last season but he handled it in a way so that we could pivot quickly if someone became available. The someone happened to be CJ, with Nance being a big bonus due to the TPE from sending out Steven Adams.

If he had done something like taking a sign and trade on Lauri Markkanen from the Bulls instead of expiring deals, we wouldn’t have been in a position to do that.

It is the same reason a bunch of people are looking at the Knicks’ moves from the draft. They cleared a ton of cap space by sending out Kemba and the 11th pick. That is only a positive for them if they get what they want for it, be it Brunson or Kyrie or someone else.

If they whiff on everyone and just have to sign every FA 4 in the league to one year deals again, it is a major disaster for them.

Not sure how this works out well for them on any level though. They will severely overpay for Brunson if they get him, Kyrie is a locker room cancer, and they don’t have the horses to run with them if they get either because their biggest contract right now is Randle.

The thing I never understood is that he got guys like Tyreke, Jrue and Q-Pon for a big man coach like Monty Williams, then got Demarcus Cousin for a
Coach who likes to run like Uncle Al.

The roster construction just never made sense.

That just showed you right there that he didn't know what the hell he was doing, he was a terrible GM, but they've fixed it now with Griffin even though he got off to a rocky start. Demps fired Monty Williams who I thought was a good coach, Demps just did a lot of dumb shite as already said on here in overpaying FAs(Solomon Hill thanks you), bad drafts and trades, etc. Glad the guy is gone.

Problem is that it is easier to fire the coach than it is to fire the GM, the stars, or the owner.

Take a look out to LA to see how that one works.

Oh, yeah, I know, personally, I think he just didn't like Williams for some reason. He fired the guy after the Pels had made the playoffs, and even Williams said I went to his office thinking I was going to be rewarded with a pay raise.

Demps didn't fire Monty, Mickey Loomis fired Monty. There was a weird power structure in place where both Demps and Monty reported to Loomis. There was a power struggle between Monty and Demps, no doubt over the roster choices Demps was making, and Monty reportedly gave Loomis a "him or me" ultimatum and Loomis chose Demps.

Thankfully the whole AD clusterfrick gave Gayle a moment of clarity about how the organization was seen around the league. Realizing that lead them to their hiring of Griff and Trajan, amongst others, to fix the issues.

Maybe so, man, but he certainly pushed for it because he and Williams didn't get along and he wanted control of the team. Williams hated the decisions that Demps made regarding the team, the roster moves and all with the direction he was taking the team in. That showed even more after Williams was gone, you could clearly see then that Demps didn't know what the hell he was doing. Lol
