It’s definitely because of everything going on in his life this year.
He’s not trashing the organization, he’s trashing his year and how badly everything affected his season.

Embarrassing that he spent time with his mom in Seattle?
That's not what I am responding to. If you watch the clip, Murray said he had grown frustrated with the team before the season ending injury for the reasons I quoted. He had been here a few months and was already fed up with the organization. That's embarrassing

I guess this shows his intelligence level then as he actively tanks any glimmer of trade value with this bullshite lol

He’s not trashing the organization
He 1000% called out the organization.
He even said usually everything in the NBA is very professional and issues come from the outside, and made it clear that wasn't the case here.
There's no way to listen to the quotes and logically come to any other conclusion than he was taking massive shots at the organization.

Murray has a pattern of trash talking his organization and his teams on his way out. Happened with Spurs, then recently the hawks, and now the Pelicans.
I'm starting to feel pretty confident they'll draft a PG/Lead guard at 7. Murray has played his last game with this team and I see a guy who knows he's out of there with guns blazing.

More baby crying g shite from you. Just go cheer for someone else. Everyone is sick of your crybaby arse here anyway.

Murray found it difficult to get necessary training table time, lifts, and court time, which severely impacted his mental state
If I remember correctly, the Pelicans training facility was under renovations for the preseason. Pels had to train at Bellmont University in Nashville. Even when the season started, they had to use parts of the Saints facility because Pelicans stuff wasn't ready yet.
Imagine showing up for camp, having all this life stuff going on and this is the first impression you have of your new team. Then you get injured.

Is he saying that he "found it difficult to get necessary training table time, lifts, and court time" because he was with his mom, or because Gayle turns the lights off at 6pm to save on Entergy bills?
He said it because after he hurt his wrist, he felt it was a sign to go be with his mom and found it hard to find table time, lift, basketball etc.

As said above, he was frustrated with everything. Before the season even started, his mom had a stroke. He was in Seattle with her. Not sure the timeline of his cousin and uncle dying. Then he was hurt in the very first game. That’s where he went back to Seattle with his mom recovering. That’s where he couldn’t find table time, workout or play basketball. Then he came back to a disaster. Team injured and out of the race, people losing their jobs. And he almost immediately blows the Achilles.
The guy is hurting. The guy was hurting. He obviously didn’t feel everyone was 100% there for him and his best interests within that time. I’m not sure if that’s Gayle, Griff, Willie or his teammates. Maybe a little of all. I think he’s actually a sensitive guy that puts on a very very strong front.
Unfortunately I think too many read some out of context quotes and didn’t watch the whole piece. Or maybe didn’t understand it as Dejounte was intentionally vague and maybe didn’t want to truly discuss this horrible time in his life. Regardless, yes the organization needs to be better. And I really like Dejounte a lot and would love absolutely nothing more than that guy to bounce back and be the leader of our team. I think NO could be the best place for him and will love him.

I think we all would like to build around Murray, but he is telegraphing with his comments he is embarrassed to be a Pel.
There are only 30 franchises and 450 NBA player jobs and nobody wants to play here given a choice. Gayle is a bad owner and everything from practice facilities, cafeteria, SKC, Oschner, uniforms, etc is poverty class.
It’s a hard team to follow with a repeatedly failed multi business owner. Until public pressure can penetrate Gayle and her bubble (she isn’t reading the is board in her spare time for constructive solutions) we’re stuck in NBA hell.

Tanking value only works if your reputation doesn’t go with it.

So stop following the Pels. Stop coming over here to trash the city and the team. Stop advocating that they move to another city. Become an OKC fan. They seem like a fun team to root for.
There's no award for sticking it out with a team you despise. Its just masochism. Go find a dominatrix. You might derive more pleasure from being dominated/humiliated than you get from being a Pels fan.
Look inward.

Lauscha said the offers have been multi-billion dollar offers for both teams.
“I probably get a phone call once a month for the basketball team,” Lauscha said. Lauscha, the team president, will pick the next owner of both teams as the executor of Gayle Benson’s estate.
The plan is to set both organizations up so they essentially cannot relocate.
quote:
Benson has made it clear that she does not intend to sell the Pelicans, even in the face of potential offers or speculation. She has also outlined a succession plan where, upon her death, the teams will be sold, with the proceeds going to the Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation, but with the stipulation that the new owners must keep the teams in New Orleans, reports Bleacher Report. This plan is designed to ensure the long-term viability of the teams in the city.
quote:
Benson said she is in the process of completing a succession plan for both teams, which will eventually need to be approved by membership in both leagues. She wouldn’t reveal details of the plan but said league officials have already informally approved its structure.
These are from 3 different articles. You can look up more if you want to see “facts” instead of talking out of your arse. Even league officials approved the success plan structure.

Every owner who relocated says they are committed to the city they play in until they aren’t. To say otherwise would be suicide especially in NOLA.
Eventually the offers become too good to refuse and if NOLA continues its population death spiral to 100 MSA it’s lights out. Elect better leaders and soon.
There is no place for NOLA for major sports and Latoya, Jason Williams, and Sheriff Hutson types.

Serious question: why are you a Pelicans fan?

I just don't know how those clauses would be legally enforceable. There has to be an out. Even if it's paying the city 1B to get out the contract, there would be an option. You can't force someone to stay in a location and lose money or make dramatically less than they could potentially make in another place.
This just reminds me of the Raiders. Everybody wanted them to stay in Oakland and they made money. But they could go to Vegas, play in a new stadium, and make way more money. It didn't make sense to stay. It's just too lucrative. There are a lot of cities that want a basketball team and will spoil a franchise. It has to be tempting to explore those options..

Absolutely these are businesses. Just as you wouldn’t locate any business to NOLA as a first choice unless it’s Jazz or Mardi Gras related, our next owner will look at the plethora of superior markets to relocate.
Posted on 6/18/25 at 11:34 am to Geauxldilocks
If you think Lauschka is going to choose an owner who wants to move outside of the state you’re wrong. It’s literally in the contract that they cannot relocate. Benson even took a step further and made a structure plan with league officials. What makes you not understand that? You think there’s only one or two buyers?
Raiders moved to Vegas because they would not build a new stadium.
Pelicans and Saints are not running at a lost by the way

Every contract has an escape clause, many franchises have moved or sued to move and ultimately do.
The next owner has every right to locate the business where he/she sees fit it’s their property not that of fans or ticket holders.
We should want a better city to keep and reward future owner, not downvote and bash those who speak the truth about NOLA.
