D Lillard says he don't need to go to another franchise to chase a ring. I guess he is more comfortable in his skin than AD

Staying in Portland

I have a lot of respect for Damien Lillard. He has big dick energy.

quote:

“When my career is over and I am going to know the relationships that I’m gonna have ... I am going to know the people who knew I was solid with them regardless if I was at the top or if I controlled all of this stuff, that I did it the right way. And I took people’s situations and their families and what could be into consideration before I just made a decision based off ‘alright, this is what’d be best for me. This is what people want to see me do.’”

Thinking about others, that's leadership. I get that the league doesn't want to get involved in this fight, but it's in the league's best interest to make this situation go as poorly for AD as possible. The next time a player wants to demand a trade he should do so knowing he's played his last game until the team finds a trade it likes.

This is kind of ironic, cause I believe we will end up trading Davis to either Portland or Denver..

Let's say that NY ends up with the 4th pick, Irving goes to NY and the Celtics don't offer Tatum. Where are you getting the best deal? Portland can offer McCollum, Collins, a 1st rounder and another young player/draft pick. Other than Denver (with a package built around Murray and Porter), that is the best value we can get..

I can see Denver entering the mix. They have assets to spare reducing the risk of taking that kind of bet. But Portland would never get back close to what they give up if an AD/Lillard combo wasn't magical and he became a 1 year rental.

It is akin to what Toronto is doing. One great shot. Maybe they figure its just not going to happen with McCollum, cause he is too similar to Lillard. All star for all star. Worst case, they can flip him to the Lakers at the deadline and reset. They do need to shake it up and the Blazers are an aggressive team..

I don't know if their Alpha basically calling AD a beta would affect any possible trade there. I guess AD would know who the leader is.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but the Blazers routinely are over .500 every year and have been in the playoffs every year since 2014. Lillard's at least getting some chances in Portland

The Blazers had the richest owner in the league for years and a very player friendly atmosphere. Its a great place to live and play. He is smart to embrace it..

.. I just looked it up and didn't realize the Blazers are probably for sale and nobody technically owns the team right now. Allen's sister doesn't want it and the foundation is semi running it. Its all in flux..
