New Orleans Hornets won't be here soon enough

Stern is bombing the team and allow an owner to swoop in and move them to LA or Vegas

There's supposed to be a 10 year lease signed with no bench mark for attendance soon.

According to WWL, which was referencing the LA Times our something, the clippers turned down the pick, Aminu, Bledsoe, and Kaman. Not even Gordon. That can't be right.

I would like to see that happen

I just don't see any way a new owner or the NBA would sign something like that

yeah, i don't see why a lease would be signed when we have no signs of an owner.

You guys can't be serious. Stern wants to keep the Hornets in NOLA and anyone who believes otherwise is fighting reality. The 10-year lease will actually provide a funding source by coupling with financial incentives. That would provide a more clear financial outlook to any prospective owners, which helps make a deal.

Jason Calmes over at 247 threw out the figure of $20 million in new revenue the other day when talking about the Hornets being held up as a model to small markets. That no doubt comes in part from ticket sales and sponsorships that will suffer if this circus doesn't end well, but part of it is probably from the alleged pending lease and naming rights deal. And that money is on top of what was gained in the new CBA and new revenue sharing.

I really think we're letting the emotional roller coaster drive us crazy, the only thing that has really changed in the last week is that this season looks like it will be thrown away, but we all kind of wanted to win the lottery anyway.

From steins new article. Can't link on phone

quote:

Sources close to the talks insisted Monday night that both Gordon and the Minnesota pick were in the package that would going to New Orleans, despite reports to the contrary. The Clippers found the demands "too steep," according to one source close to the process, even after Paul told the Clippers he would invoke the 2012-13 option in his contract as part of the trade, ensuring that L.A. would have him next to Blake Griffin for at least two seasons. The Hornets wanted "everybody," one source said. That meant both prized shooting guard Gordon and the highly coveted Minnesota pick, with requests at various points in the day from NBA negotiators Stu Jackson and Joel Litvin for Bledsoe and an additional first-round pick as well. The latter two requests, sources said, were met with particular dismay by the Clippers, since they are already so skittish about surrendering both Gordon and the pick conveyed from the Timberwolves.
quote:

Meeting with reporters later Monday after the acquisition of Billups, when asked if the Clippers still need Paul, Olshey said: "I don't know if there's anybody on the planet that doesn't need Chris Paul if they had an opportunity to acquire him. But I don't think anything's changed. I think they made a fair proposal. I'm sure in their mind it was (fair), given what they were giving up, (but) we passed on it and moved on with our business. We're going forward with this group of players. It just got better by keeping DeAndre (Jordan) and adding Chauncey."

I know some here won't agree, but get Gordon and Aminu, drop the demand for the Minnesota pick, and get Bledsoe and a non-Minnesota first rounder. The end. I think that's very comparable deal to what Utah got for Williams. The Minnesota pick would be nice, but who the hell knows. That could be a future all-star or out of the league in 3 years. I don't care about Kaman. He's a closer to 30 than 29 year old above average center. You can find your own Chris Kaman, though he might be needed for salary purposes.

A new article from Berger makes it sound like Chauncey could be a key to getting the deal done and rival teams are already spinning conspiracy theories about how convenient it was for them to have such a low winning bid for him.
