I know that be and Jada enjoyed living here. And that's pretty much from the source over a couple of years.

That's always been what I heard.

Shinn/Bower were a shite show. It takes incredible skill in decision making and incredible luck to be a contender. Outside of 07-08, that Hornets era really didn't have much of either. I loved that team, but it was paper thin and there were no injuries. No ill will for wanting out of a crummy situation.

Sports are funny. People boo and bitch about players . Then when players don't show absolute loyalty to the team/fans, they are upset. Not a value judgement or anything because I'm certainly guilty of it too.

Anthony Davis will do something similar if we aren't contending within the next 5 seasons. Every first-tier NBA player does this nowadays.

This is absolutely the case. That's why every season counts. Injuries or not, if this team isn't making some big noise next year, AD's going to start looking around, even if it's just subconsciously. I didn't expect to be a top 4 seed this year, but I was at least thinking they'd sniff 7 or 8.

Anybody who takes a shitty season lying down, not panicking or whatever. Don't get upset when Davis is a Knick or a Net or even a Rocket.

I would be a little more worried if three of our most important players weren't out with injuries.

I'm sure I'll be be Mr. Negative Nancy or whatever, but it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Davis is gone in 5-7 years if we don't make noise in the playoffs in that time period. And a lot of noise.

I mean 100% guarantee he leaves

We're one of the probably 2-3 least desirable places to play in the NBA. Two years ago we were the #1 least desirable, so it's getting better I guess.

Stars leaving this team is always going to be the reality of this franchise.

I'd add Cleveland. Toronto. Players have always hated Salt Lake.

Yeah, I knew I was forgetting some.

Then you have places like OKC, who have a great team but the city itself is absolutely terrible.

Oh ok

That must be why those free agents just flock to us every season, and our star players always stay here

We were owned by the league like a year or so ago guys. I think that makes us a worse destination than some of these other teams being named.

What does that have to do with the future?

perception that we're an inept franchise. which frankly i'm still waiting for evidence that we aren't

alot of this benson positivity has been great and all, and he's done some great stuff since taking over, but (on the court at least) we're pretty much at the same level, or even below the level we were at with Shinn or Stern owning the team

Because we didn't have an owner. Now we do. Do you foresee that happening again? I doubt it and I'm sure 99% of people do as well.

On court performance is a completely different argument.

Free agents flock to Toronto, Cleveland, Salt Lake, etc.?

And we have new ownership. I have a feeling people around the league are aware we're not owned by the league any longer.

Free agents flock to like 4 cities, LA, NY, Miami. So three cities actually, 5 teams. Then if your team is good and you find the right fit places like Dallas, Houston, Golden State, can attract some players.

Nola is a top ten city in the NBA, especially for African-Americans. Now how desirable the team is to players is a different story but the city isn't the problem. And calm down about Davis we're going to sign him to the 5 year max after his rookie deal runs out, which means he'll be under contract for eight years total. We're in a very injury plagued year 2. Let's have some optimism

I have been friends with quite a few players throughout the years and most guys like the city.

How is Nola a top 10 city, especially for blacks? I guess it could be by process of elimination bc places like Milwaukee exist

Most black nba players probably don't even enjoy Nola for the reasons it is to be enjoyed: history, culture, food, music etc

They like spending money on extravagant things and having places to show it off. Clubs and parties, opportunities to "stunt". Nola isn't really like that.

Holy generalization Batman!!! Definitely JR and probably Baron but has there been another Hornets/Pelican who fits this description? I doubt we're finding guys way outside of the norm.
