and a trade with GS keeps us in the tax meaning we have to ship out assets with a salary to get out.

If we trade BI and DON'T trade atleast (1) of CJ/ Zion then it would be a complete failure no matter what. You can't look at any trade we make as a singular trade.

You have to temper expectations on BI

Oh yeah because Duren + Ivy + 1st + (6) 2nds is really tempered compared to Wiggins + podz + 1st.......

You can't look at any trade we make as a single transaction. The next 2-3 trades we make will all be connected and made to compliment each other. That's why I explained that we would be stuck choosing specific trades for CJ/ Zion to fill our roster instead of just getting the best value.

You seem to forget about the 6 seconds I proposed in that deal also

Because no team is giving up (6) 2nds in a single trade along with young players and a 1st.

And in your scenario you use Hawk to get it done which cost us a good assets for absolutely no reason.

Hornets get BI

Pistons get MSU alum from Flint, MI Miles Bridges

Pelicans gets Nick Richards, Tim Hardaway (cut immediately), 2025 Pels 2nd, 2027 Mavs 1st and 2026 2nd from Hornets, 4 2nds from Pistons (2025 Toronto 2nd).

That would give us two early 2nds this year, which we can use to move up a good 10 spots if there's a guy in the 25ish range we want to go get in this draft.

Not really an awesome return for BI (1 1st and 6 2nds and Nick Richards), but if we are moving on than just get it over with.

I don't want Patrick Williams.
I don't think the Nets want to take on any salary in a trade. They want cap space and to be bad this year.

Magic get BI and Theis
Hornets get Cole Anthony
Pels get Jonathon Isaac and 2025 (Denver) and 2026 1st from Orlando, and Nick Richards and our own 2025 2nd back from Charlotte.

Anyone could say "I don't want _____".

Chances are our choices are 1 "capable" starter or several picks.

We aren't getting several picks and Steph Curry for a BI/ Zion trade. The big picture is 3 1st not whether Patrick Williams as a backup PF is worth a shite for 2 seasons.

A package like that is the only way we get multiple picks. Unless you want someone that still won't and end up making a difference and get 1-2 less 1sts.

i didtn' even notice the 3 firsts. I guess i'd be ok with that.

I really don't want anyone on a long term deal, like Pat Williams, or even Isaac in my trade.

Seems Butler REALLY wants to get to Phoenix, only way it will work is Beal going out. Reports are it will coat 2 1st rounders for a team to eat Beal’s contract. Wonder if this could work and get everyone interested.

Suns: Butler

Blazers: Beal, 2 1sts from Miami, 1 1st from Phoenix

Heat: Ingram, Jerami Grant, Theis

Pels: Robert Williams, Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic, 2nds and swaps from Phoenix

May look like a shite return for BI but definitely could be worse

Doesn't look like shite, it is shite.

I'd rather not trade him right now and go into the offseason with a decision to make than get back always hurt Robert Williams, Duncan, Jovic and some 2nds.

Raptors got back Bruce Brown and 3 firsts as an expiring semi-star in Siakam. We should be looking for something similar, and that's not even close to beign similar to that Siakam return.

This was also under a different CBA. They wouldn’t get that now.

At most I think one of the 1sts could be sent to Pels and a couple swaps to Portland, and/or Miami send Ware instead of Jovic, but either way it lines up with what is rumored the Pels are prioritizing in a BI return which is:
1) Get out of the tax (done)
2) Get a young player (Jovic is young and a shooter that would fit our roster, so also done)
3) A 1st round pick (don’t get that but 4 2nds and 2 swaps is pretty equivalent

That doesn't make that big of a difference.
There's still plenty of teams capable of offering similar deals. Neither the Pacers or Raptors were concerned with the tax that year, or this year, so yeah, that trade would have been made the same way this year, and there's plenty of teams in similar situations this year that can make similar offers for BI.

Stop trying to find a reason why BI isn't worth something similar.

With the talk in another thread of Lavine for BI, would a move like this work for Chicago, Miami and Pels?

Phoenix: Butler

Miami: BI, CJ

Bulls: Beal, whatever picks Miami and Phoenix need to send

Pels: Lavine, Duncan, Jovic

Bulls start their rebuild and can still send out Vic and Ball for picks

Miami gets two guys to help them win now while only having to send out one of their young players, a disgruntled player, and Duncan.

Phoenix gets their target in Butler

Pels get 3 guys that can all shoot the lights out the arena to continue to surround Zion for 2025-26 season (we will restart the tank before the end of the year). And bonus, we get under the tax

actually not a bad looking trade for everyone, but i'm sure the Bulls would want to get out of the tax and they'd need to send out someone like Craig to get under it, and they woudln't be able to send him to any of the other 3 teams so a 5th team would need to get involved to aborb his $2.8M, which shouldn't be hard to find.

We could use Duncan's expiring contract in the offseason to find another quality 5 to play behind Missi, and help reduce salary as we'd need to probably go from Duncan's $19M to a backup around $5M, cough cough Nick Richards, if we want to sign our 1st round pick and stay under the tax.

Yeah, that would put them about 2 million into the tax, but they would easily be able to send out someone for 2nds or even get under in a Ball or Vuc deal by routing Detroit in with it.

God... I hate Lavine's contract so much. 2 more years 46 mil and 49 mil. He's also supremely injury prone as well. Jovic is an intriguing piece, but defensively he's so goddamn bad.

Vucivic will most likely end up on GSW IMO. So throw in 2nds from GSW and salaries to match and it should be doable.

But I just don't like taking back a 40mil contract without picks. Adding Jovic definitely makes it better.

If we could trade CJ for Isaiah Stewart straight up, I would be all over that.

I think Ingram to Miami once Butler is traded makes a ton of sense for both teams. Pels get salary filler and maybe a 1st or some 2nds.

Showcase Zion as much as possible the rest of the season and flip him for as much as you can in the offseason.

See what you can get for Dejounte.

Pistons: CJ + Theis + Bojan

Nets: BI + Isaiah Stewart + (4) 2nds via Det + (1) future 1st via Pels

Pels: Nic Claxton + (2) 1st next year via Nets or (1) 1st and (2) 2nds next year

Nets have (4) 1sts and (2) 2nds next year to put into perspective

And a +30mil trade exception from CJ I think

If we would actually get that exception aswell from the trade then I'd be cool sending the Nets (1) future first for just (1) 1st next year and 1-2 2nds next year.

So essentially Claxton + 30mil exception + (1) 2nd for BI/ CJ if you cancel out the assets and not necessarily the total pick value differential
