"I just took this picture (~12:45) in downtown Charlotte at the Bobcats' party for changing the name to the Hornets. It's a sad state of affairs, as evidenced by the lonely clown on stilts in the middle there.

Keep in mind this is the heart of the city during lunch, one of the few times downtown Charlotte is generally busy. Great work, MJ."

MJ continues to prove he may be the greatest on-court player ever but he's fricking piss-poor as a front-office guy.

You would think he'd pick a better location in the mall for lunch then by a CVS.

A fricking strip mall? That is awesome.

And that lonely clown on stilts is begging for the Fark treatment.

The Charlotte Hornets were always more of a fashion statement than an actual team people cared about.

Umm, they're in Charlotte. Don't think there will be beer.

I'm pretty sure I was right. That looks like the EpiCentre in Charlotte where Strike City (good happy hour) is located. That's as dead as you'll see that area.

I actually got interviewed by some local news crew there one day about NeckCar. They asked me who my favorite driver was. I eloquently described the greatness of Richard Petty. I'm not sure how well the sarcasm was conveyed.

Can't believe they wouldn't be excited by this:

And Charlotte is ready to celebrate! The Bobcats are hosting an event for fans timed to coincide with the BOG vote, featuring giveaways, appearances by Muggsy Bogues, Rex Chapman, Dell Curry, Kendall Gill and Kelly Tripucka, and a Michael Jackson cover band. (They spared no expense.)

Seriously though, you can blame it all on Shinn. Charlotte went from being one of the best NBA towns with a ridiculous number of consecutive sellouts to being one of the worst. And MJ ain't helping. It's a shame.

EpiCentre. That's where I first learned how overrated Five Guys is. People had me thinking I was getting some special burger.

Can you blame it all on Shinn? They were upset that Shinn did not sell a share to Jordan. In hindsight, was that wrong? Also, they had a ton of sellouts in an arena with no courtside seats, little to no suites and no club seats. The city/state would not get a new arena to allow for revenue making. After they left, they got a new arena, and now no one wants to pay the real world prices of the NBA. They were spoiled with the cheap seats.

If the festivities are anything like the party surrounding a Panthers home game, you'd have more fun playing Bingo at a retirement home.

Charlotte has to hold the record for the most jersey changes in a 12 year period. BTW, worse owner MJ or Shinn? At least Shinn won and had star players.
