a. The exceptions are franchise-builders. The last couple years, the top 3 guys for MVP have all basically been skilled bigs (Jokic, Giannis, and Embid)

b. Is this about Zion? He's more of a jumbo wing how we use him than a "big"

You also can’t not have enough competent bigs which is a problem the Pels have now. Willie only sees 2 of our 4 bigs as playable, and he only wants to play those 2 about 40 MPG.

This team needs both a 3rd big Willie would play, and a starting caliber big Willie would play more than JV. They put way too much on Larry and he just couldn’t carry all that weight.

It’s probably going to take some investment to make that happen.

Other than KD, the 3 best players in the NBA are big men.

Shouldn't it be

ALL PLAYERS are a bad investment, with exceptions

Unless the player is an All-Star or champion, it is basically a bad investment

He’s a big in a sense of his mass

yes the ones that work out tend to be great, but the ones that don’t work out tend to flame out. And Jokic and Giannis were not huge investments from draft capital standpoints

My theory was that bigs flame out more often and produce less as top draft picks

Interestingly enough, I ran an analysis of average all star selections per player for every player selected in the top 3 picks between 2000-2021 using chat GPT, and sorted between 2 categories: G/SF and PF/C. The results were crazy. Both categories had nearly identical average all star selections per player, at about a 2.8 selections per player clip. I had to move Ben Simmons from the “bigs” category to the “smalls” category, but it’s remarkable how close the results ended up being

Nowadays...if a "legit" big man "5", is the best player on your team...you have very little chance to win it all. Just the way it is...unless they move the 3-pt line back another 5' or so.

Define "legit big man 5" because I expect you're excluding Giannis and possibly Embid.

Where does Denver rank in terms of favorites for the title this year?

It would be shrinking the lane that would make bigs more dominant.

And what does legit mean? Not shoot 3s? Is Brook Lopez not a legit 5? Whom, btw, should have been named an all star. JJJ? Dropped 40 on us including an off the dribble 3 late in the game last week?
Toni? Prime Boogie?

Exclude Giannis, include Embiid. Some think 76ers would have a decent shot...I don't. Especially since they have to go through Boston and then Bucks...and can't beat either one, much less both. Lopez is the Bucks' "legit big man 5"...Denver? Maybe 7th pick...

Lopez shoots 3s like a splash brother and is DPOY contender. Giannis can’t shoot but he can dribble.

So legit big man means, guys who can’t dribble?
