I purchase a VPN and league pass this season. Tonight will be the first test using both to watch a Pels game. I successfully used the VPN to watch normally blacked out Astros games with a free trial of MLB.TV. Hoping for the same luck tonight.

Also have YouTubeTV and they allow you to purchase LeaguePass through their app and watch games on YouTubeTV but I already have an existing subscription so I don't know how to go about adding that to YTtv. Would make it a lot easier to watch other games instead of having to do it through an app.

So there’s a dozen sites to get NFL games for “free” but not one for the Pelicans?

There are, and they are often the same sites/apps you use for football, but that is not what people in this thread so far have been looking for.

Also, there are definite downsides to "free" games and I'm not even talking about the usual complaints of stream quality or "that site gave my computer aids". Unlike the NFL, in the NBA there are usually multiple broadcasts of a game, a home and away version. Most people here want to watch the Pels version of the broadcast with Joel and AD doing the play by play and finding that is hit or miss with the "free" streams.

I'd say half the games last season I couldn't find a BSNO stream at all, and for the half I did, another half of those were only on sites that wouldn't play on my Fire TV so I had to watch on a computer if I wanted the local stream.

For those of you who have "DirectTV Stream" how does it compare to YoutubeTV?

I have YTV and find it to be the best of the ones I've tried by far, but haven't tried DTV Stream. If YTV had BSNO it would be the GOAT.

Anyone know if Pels games will still be on Fox Southwest like last season?

Fox Sports Southwest does not exist anymore anywhere. Its "Bally Sports New Orleans" which is part of "Bally Sports Southwest" so you will get the game on BSNO in LA/Ms/AL on BSNO if you have Cox, DirecTV, DirecTV stream, or Uverse

I've had both. The streaming and picture quality is the same. The layout of the live channel list is essentially the same too, but the layout for the suggested viewing is a little different. I prefer YoutubeTV there, but not to the point where it's a big deal to me. I'm pretty simple in how I watch things though.

One thing that does bother to me is DirectTV Stream doesn't allow separate viewer profiles. I'll still use it instead of YoutubeTV though, at least during the season.

DirectTV Stream gives you a 5-day free trial, so maybe just try it out. The Choice package that includes Bally's is normally $89/month but on promo now for $79 for the first five months.
