SIAP
From Silverscreenandroll

quote:

When people ask, “what other offers were the Lakers negotiating against,” that kind of misses the point. This was never about the Lakers vying for position as the team with the best trade package. No, the Lakers were screwed from the get-go.

David Griffin, an experienced executive himself, knew that the Lakers had to make a trade and were far more desperate than he was. Griffin was always going to get something for Davis, it was just a matter of what and from whom.

Pelinka, conversely, couldn’t push away from negotiations and, as a result, was always working from a position of weakness — at least based on what we know about the trade as things stand right now.

Best part is they gave up so much just to get AD a year there earlier for Lebron, but they may not have enough cap to sign a max player until next year. So they’d be much better off signing AD next year with another max player and keeping all their assets.

The comments are hilarious. Those people are in full denial. They all believe that we wanted Kuzma.

8m sure we wanted Kumar as well. I’m not sure not including him that is still a win for them

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the Lakers we wanted Kuzma

I learned that trick early in my career when my VP spent 3 hours negotiating with our government customers around a worthless provision in a contract renewal. I was an analyst that covered that provision and when we took a break, I told him that it wasn't really that important and we could give in. I remember he looked me right in the eyes and said "They have given us the farm while protecting their position." He gave in "reluctantly" a few hours later on a position point that no one in our company gave a shite about.

And people comparing this trade to Leonard’s LOL, AD didn’t sit out for a year and didn’t embarass NO like Kawhi did to SAS.

Lol wut

Maybe not literally, but yeah, he did quit on his team and torpedo the season.

Lakers fans are completely delusional.

Can’t wait until AD starts getting booboos that keep him out of the lineup, meaning 48 minutes of LeBron and Kuzma.

AD was the hero we needed

We're not a dynasty in waiting without that trade request

Still doesn’t mean we have to like him.

I ended up getting my life on track after getting harshly rejected by a chick in HS but I wouldn’t thank her for it.

Kawhi made it worse by doing things like playing 2 on 2's with ex Spurs players on one side of the court while the team was practicing on the other side.

Lakers fans. They probably don’t even remember that the failed trade attempt in February sunk their own damn team.

AD is going to sign a one and one with the Lakers, regardless of what happens this year. He needs to get to year 10 before he signs his next big contract, since he can't sign supermax with Lakers.

IMO, if things go sideways, that would be the time LeBron is bailing or retiring. I could see AD leaving after that, which would be awesome for our picks.

While I didn’t really want to trade AD to L.A., Durant’s injury and Kyrie signing with ROC really sunk the market. Considering L.A.’s two biggest competitors for AD were out of the picture, we took L.A. to the cleaners.

Lucking into Zion helps as well.
