Name me a player, sans LeBron, who would take that group of nobodies from Sacramento to the playoffs. With that mess in ownership and coaching.

Let’s not forget he played for an owner who was interested in playing 4 on 5 and having one player never cross half court.

Don't forget he started his career with the Maloofs. Their last few years made Shinn look like Mark Cuban.

That said, players can set the culture too. No question the Kings were dysfunctional. Cousins was not the sole reason, but he played a part in that.

It does seem like he is trying to do better in NO. Much like this team itself, it is a process and progress isn't always linear

Yea, Cousins isn’t blameless by any stretch of the imagination. But to say he’s the only reason he hasn’t been to the playoffs is absurd.

8 seasons in the league. Cousins has already had 7 different head coaches. If/when Gentry gets fired, that will be 8 for 8..

Gentry isn't getting fired. This team is making the playoffs and Demps/Gentry will live to fight another day.

Two of those coaches were interim, I believe. And he lost one coach and gained another via trade.

Throw playoff appearances out the window

His teams in Sac won more than 36% of their games once

I think the bottom line is AD's refusal to play center full time really limits the directions this team can go. Hoping Cousins can mature enough to be passable is probably the path forward with the highest ceiling. I'm not going to go so far as saying Cousins can't change, but I don't think how hard he tries to react normally being noticeable is actually a good thing. It shows how hard it is for him to act normal. When he can take a bad call in stride without tensing up and telling himself to forget about it, that's when you can say he's improved.

100%. i get wanting a 5 to soak up regular season minutes to save wear/tear on Davis. but it's his seeming unwillingness to be finishing/crunch time 5 that really changes the equation for the Pels.

with that restriction from Davis, Cousins is about as good as this team can do at the 5 and still try to compete in the NBA

the scary thing as a Pels fan is Davis isn't much better.

that said, this season has gone better than i thought it would to start.

Well, everyone knew his M.O. coming in, that's who he is.

Watched much of the game last night, seemed our offense consisted mostly of Cousin's getting the ball out high and either settling for a jumper or trying to dribble drive all the way to the goal.

He got his numbers but also a lot of turnovers and wild out of control shots. It was really frustrating to watch. I guess that's what Alvin wants cause it keeps happening.

I wish you guys could be in the coaches room when they talk about what THEY want.

If you guys think that if Alvin could control Boogie like a robot, that he would have him play anything like THAT, you are insane.

The one who is most frustrated, though, is Finch. He came here thinking he could maximize Boogie, but Boogie is gonna Boogie, and Finch is beyond frustrated

We've seen what the coaches want on the court in spurts this year. Boogie is too goddamn stubborn to keep playing that way.

How much longer is this shite going to go on until boogie gets benched in the fourth? Alvin did it last year and now it seems like he's scared to do it.

He should be. Cousins is in a contract year. You have to control him with other tools like your vets getting in his ear as Rondo of Allen have done at times this year, and I think last night he should have been purposely going away from Cousins at the end. I don't care that he got you there, he was tired and ZBo was in his head which leads to very predictable bad behavior.

I blamed Cousins for the loss in another thread, but truth be told it was really Rondo's fault. If he plays I have no doubt that's a win. He might be the 2nd most important player on the team behind AD because of the impact he has on Boogie and Jrue.

Hey, you are probably right. At least I hope you are cause that garbage I watched last night should not in any way shape or form be what the coaches want.

Like I said, we knew what we were getting, you right, Boogie's gonna Boogie. But I gotta think there are coaches out there that can at least manage things to some middle ground here. I still have never seen anything from Gentry to show me he's one of those coaches.

Finch asked things of Jokic and Jokic.said (word for word from what I am told) "I'll do whatever you think will help us win."

By the end of training camp, before the games even started, Finch had already given up that he would get anything similar from Boogie

There shouldn't be such a huge disconnect like that from coach to player and it's fricking disturbing to say the least.

Cannot fricking believe that shite, or I guess it's my fault that I didn't see it coming.

From my view Gentry's resume as a head coach should serve as exhibit A that this should not be surprising. I never understood the hire. The Golden State connection was IMHO such a weak rationalization. Look at what he did as head coach in several other opportunities. It should be no surprise.

I can't believe that the MAJORITY of the blame still goes on the coach. Finch and Erman can't get through to him either. They bums too?

You guys sound like the type that would have your girl cheat on you and you blame the guy for it

If Pop can get buy in why can't everyone else? There's clearly a formula that other coaches could follow if they weren't so stupid. You're the one that doesn't get it.
