League fined Davis $50,000 for his press release

NBA radio just said "the Lakers are trying to bully the Pelicans and I'm uncomfortable with it. It's like they grabbed the right arm of the Pelicans, twisted it, and yanked it behind their back, and the Pelicans ripped their right arm back, took two hands, and shoved them in the chest and said back off."
Termine and his cohost (its not Eddie today) are the first people to give the Pels “some” credit and acknowledge they might just not trade Davis to the Lakers just to spite them. They also said if packages are even comparable between the Lakers and another team, the Pelicans would take the trade from the other team.
It’s also nice to see people like Isiah Thomas chime in. I think the Pelicans have the support from the vast majority of the other NBA teams right now.
The same guys did criticize the Pelicans for having Loomis as POBO, but said that anyone saying the team is gonna move is incredibly overreactionary.

One more thing on Kyrie: You better believe that if Danny Ainge thinks he's walking this summer, Kyrie will be on a new team by next Thursday. Ainge has no room for anything but what's best for the Celtics. That's what you need to watch for. Not "Kyrie is leaving this summer."
Davis to the Boston for Tatum and the Knicks pick

I think they Pels will get a huge haul for AD... But I don't think the Celtics are trading Kyrie and Tatum away to get a year and a half of AD guaranteed

I don't see how the Celtics trade Tatum for AD if Kyrie is gone. They wouldn't have the cap space to add another high level FA and the leftover parts wouldn't be enough to keep AD. One of the threads said Boston is the key, but really Kyrie is kind of the key.

Kyrie staying is huge, but all the noise out of Boston recently is that he plans to stay. Or at the least he isn't planning on leaving.

I think Kyrie is important but Ainge will have to pull the trigger at some point. I could see a scenario where Kyrie leaves and they trade Tatum for AD anyways with the assumption that their culture and winning will keep him around.
Also, wouldn’t the Pelicans have the cap space to take on additional salary for extra picks, especially if they’re able to move Moore before the deadline? We’d have like 44m in salary + pick holds with a cap of 110m. That’s possibly a reason why they’re looking for picks in exchange for Randle/Niko/Moore.
I admittedly am no expert and have a very basic understanding of the cap, so I could be wrong. It makes sense though.

That seems like a risky assumption. At the very least the Pels would need to take Hayward back if Kyrie is gone and Tatum is in the trade. That way in the summer of 2020 they'd have or at least could create the cap space to go after another top level FA to add to AD. But I still think that seems to risky a strategy. If Kyrie is gone I'd expect the trade package to be Brown instead of Tatum and maybe some more 1sts.

Who says no? Pels get that and picks. Keep in mind I put 5 minutes into this.

I know or see the plan is for Boston to build around Kyrie and Anthony
But IDK why they don't just trade Kyrie in a separate transaction. Then trade for Davis. Let Smart start in Kyrie's place. Marcus next to Davis is an awesome combo

I really want AD to be on the knicks and for them to somehow get Kyrie and Durant. That team would be so fun to watch would bring the warriors back down to just "probably will win the title" level

From what people are saying, Irving isn’t untouchable right now if he doesn’t commit to Boston. I don’t think it’s entirely out of the realm of possibility, but it’s highly unlikely.

Honestly, I hope the team doesn't over-value the Knicks pick. I just don't see Zion's game translating that well to the current NBA, and he absolutely needs to lose some weight for the NBA game.

HOWEVER...
There is a version of that trade, with Jrue involved, that actually works.

Supposedly Popovich called the Pels and told them not to cave to the Lakers and trade them there. It’s sounding like other teams in the league are concerned about the situation which is good.
