All the picks are great but it still comes down to Zion's weight

They absolutely have to get this dude in shape or none of this matters at all.
Any updates on what he's doing from a conditioning/diet standpoint?

If you had said health, I think that’s fine. But I won’t believe his weight is a concern until it’s a concern. And I’m not considering what happened with freak circumstances in the bubble to be a concern just yet.

I think it's a concern over the long term. That's a lot of load and force pounding on his knees. His conditioning is also a concern for me because many times it seemed like he couldn't make it up and down the court after a stretch of 3 to 4 minutes of game play. I would like to see him shed 20lbs and significantly work on his conditioning so he can get stay on the court and log more minutes.

Weight is health tho
It’s all added stress on his lower extremities, which have been the areas of concern.
Every lb is the force 4 lbs of added pressure to the joints

The truth is that he may have to play himself into a better weight and shape. A guy like that doesn’t lose a pound running on a treadmill. If he pushes himself in a full season I believe he will lose weight naturally. The risk of extreme dieting is losing strength. Which would make him almost useless given that his strength is his best asset.

I think the Pels are working towards always being flexible in an NBA where things change so quickly. We obviously want Zion to become a superstar, but you can’t be only focused on one piece. What if Ingram becomes a super star? Like the Pels are building it right this time. Why bring up the negatives? They are preparing for anything, and are trying to make something of this. 20 years ago would you have thought the saints would be where they have been under Brees and Peyton? Hell no. You want the Pels to continue to improve for now and the future and they are doing that. And bro as a fan that’s all you can ask for.

Until he has an actual off-season to get right and a full season to maintain, I’ll remain optimistic that his body will be fine.

Exactly. And in a market like New Orleans where top tier free agents are hard to acquire, you have to be ready for life without Zion whether it's because of injury, free agency, him being a bust, etc. Not that I believe those things are likely to happen, but as an organization, you have to be prepared and have a strategy to be ahead of the curve. The top down approach is the best way to develop a consistently great franchise. Look at how well the Saints are ran now, it's one of the best franchises in the NFL. The Pelicans need to adopt some of those same principles and like you said, be flexible, don't just put it all on Zion, but give him the help he needs with the right coaching staff and roster fits.

Yep, worst-case scenario Zion does struggle and as a rebuilding team with an ungodly amount of assets it just takes a little longer and we are well positioned to force ourselves into the Chet Holmgren, Jaden Hardy or Emoni Bates sweepstakes or cash in for a superstar or two.
Putting all your eggs and entire organizational strategy into one player was Demps original mistake.

Between ages 19-24 young college kids tend to get fat. Especially women
