maybe because he isn't playing?

if you don't think there were some legit gripes about cousins at times, i don't know what to tell you.

Haters = A person who said he could be much better than he is if he didn't do so many dumb things.

Got it.

Lets not falsely remember what really happened when he was healthy. It was a .500 team that lost a lot of games they should have won that feasted on the easiest part of its schedule to finally get above .500

He was/is a crazy, talented player. But he had a ton of faults too. Just like AD. And I guess now we are "hating" on AD

I’ll be back when it becomes apparent how fricked this franchise becomes when they re-sign him

nah, we all agree his turnovers need to have been reduced and how he is a crazy talented player who needs to be reigned in

i'm referring to the few who did post and said things like

"we'd be better off without cousins and his turnovers

or

"trade him"

I'm melting on the inside, was really hoping to go to a playoff game again

I mean, to be fair.... If they did trade him, the future might look brighter than it does now :(

little bit of both sides of the mouth here.

regardless, so much of the angst here pre-injury was due to poor evaluation of the team and unreasonable expectations stemming from that

just what every team in the league hopes for when contemplating maxing an UFA coming off a terrible, career altering injury

I'm just saying the narrative when the season is over will be - the Pelcians were good and starting to figure it out before Cousins got hurt.

But I'm not totally sure if that's true. Maybe they were the same .500 team just playing the easy part of their schedule and we're bound to come back down

fair point

I think the Pels are a mediocre regular season team, but a much more interesting post-season one

even then, I doubt they were/are more than a 2nd round team, at best

You said it yourself, Cousins was playing different for about a week leading up to his injury. Whether that was sustainable or not is certainly a fair question, but I don't think them finally starting to look like a good team was about the schedule as much as Cousins beginning to trust "boring basketball".

Right - but would he have continues playing that way or was it a stretch?

Heck, I thought Jrue had turned a corner too but now he's back to 'meh' on offense.

I need more than 5 or 6 games to say definitively that anything is going to be permanent. MAYBE they had turned a corner. Maybe they were playing their three studs 40 minutes per game and just barely beating terrible teams, and that was bound to change.

Obviously we will never know the answer to that question. But recent history tells us the Pelicans wouldve had a few let down games even with Boogie

I think the big takeaway from this season will be “the Pelicans have the talent, but lack leadership (players, coaches, ownership) and lack a consistent effort”

AD seemed...scared is the wrong word...discouraged by Embid. If Boogie is playing then Embid is Boogie's problem most of the game and we probably get a much better game from AD instead of this mopey, woe is me, "I have to carry this team by myself again but the expectations are higher now and I really don't wanna" version of AD.

There are also some personal things going on behind the scenes with a few key members of this organization that could be effecting things

It's just a mess right now.

Monty/Demps power struggle/someone might get fired kind of thing or just the usual finger pointing when losing happens?
