It's weird. AD's number will sell well to Lakers sheep and Nike would have sold so many new Lebron jerseys with a new number.

Since AD grew up in Chicago, I always thought he wore 23 because of Michael Jordan.
However, he stated he chose 23 because his favorite player growing up was Lebron, which in retrospect sheds light on AD's willing-sidekick role.
But it does make me wonder what current 11 y/o future NBA all-star is eyeing Zion's #1 as his favorite number.

That’s stupid—-so when a player goes to a different team he has to buy all of his old jerseys from the previous team? Nah something’s fishy about this

This makes zero sense.
Who's buying James 23 jerseys this year when he's getting a new number next year? Who's buying AD jerseys at all when he'll be wearing 23 for every year after this one?
LeBron has a lifetime deal with Nike. If LeBron says "I'm changing my number" nike isn't stopping him.

What really makes 0 sense is why guys like LeBron and AD who want to create their own legacy use the same number as Jordan.
Why not try to make a new number iconic? Using 23 makes no sense to me for these guys.

Exactly—smells like Lebron pulling a fast one on AD. “ hey man I tried to do the right thing and give you the number since I made you give up all your money but boss man said I can’t do it”

Pels board bro. Take this AD stuff to the MSB with all the LeBron groupies.

Exactly
Nike cant have more than a few hundred thousand dollars worth of 23 lebron jerseys pre made, no way they would say "sorry" for their biggest client outside of Jordan
They would make that back tenfold on AD 23 jerseys

The word cuck has lost meaning since the neo-conazi's coopted it, but AD really is coming out looking like the biggest cuck in NBA history.

Why is AD so butthurt over the Pelicans? No goodbye message? What did we do to him? What a cuck!

From AD's press conference:
lolololol
quote:
Pelinka said he had countless phone calls with James and Davis to determine how to best split up the available cap space after Leonard chose the Clippers. "It was like every day," Davis detailed. "On the hour." That included accounting for the personal request from Davis to add capable centers so he wouldn't have to man that position as much.
lolololol

"I like playing the 4," Davis said. "I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. I like playing the 4. I don't really like playing the 5. If it comes down to it, Coach, and you need me to play the 5, then I'll play the 5. But the game has become so position-less that you can put five guys on the floor and they just play."

He also likes wearing No. 23 -- the digits on his uniform for the Pelicans and the University of Kentucky -- and it was gifted to him by James to wear next season until the number change proved too pricey for Nike, the league's official outfitter, to pull off this late in the game without taking a financial hit because of unsold inventory featuring James in a No. 23 Lakers uniform, a source told ESPN. "That was pretty hurtful," Davis said as he shook his head

Davis is on the final year of his contract, set to pay him $27.1 million this season. Although, according to sources, he intends to re-sign with the Lakers long term in the summer of 2020, he did not commit to that publicly Saturday. "Honestly, I'm focused on this season," he said. "When I got traded here, my goal is to bring a championship here with the team that we have. And when that time comes around next year, then you can ask me that question and we'll revisit it. Right now, my focus is on this year and trying to figure out how I can help this team and help the organization become a championship team."
I love how the whole season is going to be anxiety over whether or not Davis will re-sign with the Lakers.
