If Memphis lands at 8, then all that needs to happen is one team to jump them and they fall to 9 and it conveys. Or they could get 9th slot and jump into top 4.
Bottom line, the random drawing is kind of important but still, nothing will be known until May 14th

It's a random drawing. Personally, I will be rooting for it to finish - Pels, Grizz, Mavs.

Honestly, if we don't move into the top 3, I don't care as much about us as I care about the Cavs losing their pick and the Grizzlies keeping theirs.
I would happily take 9th today if you told me Dallas will send theirs to Atlanta and Memphis will keep theirs and draft 7th or 8th. Of course, the dream is to move into top 3. I'm just saying, I don't care about picking 7 or 9 as much as I care about those other things.

Not if they move into the top 4. So ideally we want them to finish 9th in the random draw so they have slightly lower odds of that happening.

That's not how this works my man.
By this logic you are saying 33% chance at 7, 50% chance at 8, 100% chance at 9
